2JH/3IB Assembly

Well done to all the students in 3IB and 2Jh who presented today’s assembly in the hall. Our theme was: What makes you happy? and we put smiles on lots of people’s faces today with dancing, singing, acting, music, art and making. Congratulations to all involved, and a special thank you to all the parents, carers and family friends and relatives who came along to the support our students. Mrs Handforth feels super proud of 2JH!

Library

Today Nyibol read the story Ella and the Ocean to us. Thank you to Nyibol for reading aloud so beautifully and sharing the wonderful story with us.

Ella and the Ocean is a very Australian story of drought and renewal, of family, of imagination and of the power of hope.

Ella lived in the red-dirt country
where the earth was as dry as old bones
and it hadn’t rained
for years
and years
and years.
One night, Ella dreamt of the ocean…
Each week the children should bring their readers to the library to re-borrow or exchange. If children forget their reading books, please send them in the next time they attend school, and we can arrange for the children to go across tot the library to borrow. Thank you.
Play Investigations

As always,  creative maker, Jayden M, had learning to share! What an amazing three-dimensional glove he made!

ICT Skills: Blogging

Today Mrs Giannakakis and Mrs Handforth started setting up individual blogs for the students in 2JH ad 2RG, so the children can learn  the basics of blogging (such as: customising the blog, adding text content, adding video and image content) and showcase their own learning in their own words.

Today students worked on writing a short introduction about themselves for their blogs using a word processing program such as MS Word or Apple’s Pages. Some students also searched for images they would like to use for their background and header on their blogs.

Next week will see students learning how to access their blogs, customise them and do a first post. We will be sending out further details about student blogs, including  how you can subscribe to your child’s blog and view/comment on his/her posts.

Sharing

Today Katrina shared some photographs and videos of her recent trip to the United States of America, where she visited Disneyland in Florida. Katrina told us all about the images and videos, sharing her experiences of this magical holiday adventure with her peers.
