5/6HM are hosting assembly this coming week with our buddy class, 4GM.
We hope you can come along – October 23, 9am in the Hall.
Our theme is Book Week – Curious creatures, Wild minds which is the Book Week theme this year.
Students from both classes are encouraged to come dressed up as a Curious Creature or a character from their favourite book. After recess on Friday 23rd we will have our Book Week Parade where students are able to show off their costumes.
Several students are going to a soccer carnival so need to come to school in their sport uniform.
During Art this week, 5/6 HM and AE will be participating in some drama activities and games. Children are welcome to wear their sports uniform during these lessons on Wednesday.
Over the last week the students have been increasing their understanding of volume, capacity and units of measurement.
They have been busy constructing one metre cubes and then using them for number investigations. Students also learnt more about our metric system when they investigated how much water a cubic metre could hold and how much it would weigh.
5/6 HM and AE have been exploring the concept of rotational symmetry in Art. We learnt how a playing card is the same if it is rotated 2 places. Our task was to create our own playing card which had rotational symmetry. Stay tuned for some more finished pieces.
5/6HM and AE got their first 3D pen today. We had a small group exploring how it works and using it to create a bike. We are looking forward to using this more to create some three dimensional creations
At the end of the day today 5/6HM and AE shared positive comments about a chosen student. Today, Isabelle was chosen. It was so lovely to hear all her peers identify the personal qualities that they love about Isabelle. We look forward to continuing this in class each afternoon.
