# Book Week

Thanks to the families and friends who attended 5/6HM’s assembly. It was a lovely celebration of Book Week and we are so proud of the students and the way they presented so well! They do a lot of work in preparing videos and creating animations, preparing plays and art work.

We also had a great book week parade celebration today with students dressing up as book characters. I’ve attached some photos of them in their costumes!

# Assembly and Book Week Dress Up

5/6HM are hosting assembly this coming week with our buddy class, 4GM.

We hope you can come along – October 23, 9am in the Hall.

Our theme is Book Week – Curious creatures, Wild minds which is the Book Week theme this year.

Students from both classes are encouraged to come dressed up as a Curious Creature or a character from their favourite book. After recess on Friday 23rd we will have our Book Week Parade where students are able to show off their costumes.

Several students are going to a soccer carnival so need to come to school in their sport uniform.

# Art Wednesday

During Art this week, 5/6 HM and AE will be participating in some drama activities and games. Children are welcome to wear their sports uniform during these lessons on Wednesday.

# Moon Lantern Creations

Awesome Creative Talent in Our Classes

Please enjoy some of the amazing lanterns created by our talented and hard working students. Our students showed determination in completing some amazing art works.

# Podcasts

We have been busy creating podcasts this term. Our buddies asked us a Science based question. We had to research the answers and put our answers into words our buddies could understand. Students created their own soundtrack on GarageBand and then recorded their voices which included our buddies recording their question.

The students did an amazing job! Here are some of the audio files. I hope you can listen to them!

# Numeracy This Week

Over the last week the students have been increasing their understanding of volume, capacity and units of measurement.

They have been busy constructing one metre cubes and then using them for number investigations. Students also learnt more about our metric system when they investigated how much water  a cubic metre could hold and how much it would weigh.

# Rotational Symmetry Art

5/6 HM and AE have been exploring the concept of rotational symmetry in Art. We learnt how a playing card is the same if it is rotated 2 places. Our task was to create our own playing card which had rotational symmetry.  Stay tuned for some more finished pieces.

# Love Bomb – Isabelle

At the end of the day today 5/6HM and AE shared positive comments about a chosen student. Today, Isabelle was chosen. It was so lovely to hear all her peers identify the personal qualities that they love about Isabelle. We look forward to continuing this in class each afternoon.

# Podcast Recording With Buddies

Today our students teamed up with our buddies from 3JW and started recording our Science Podcasts. The year three students posed a Science based question to the Year 56 classes who have researched the answer and will explain it in these podcasts. We are using a program called Garageband to make our podcasts.
