Year 6 students…

As part of our Graduation celebrations we would appreciate photos of the students as a toddler and also if they did Reception at a different school. If students were at Holy Family for Reception we have access to those photos. Please email the photos or send a hard copy for us and we will return it asap.

Sports Day

Earlier this year, the Sports Day was cancelled due to weather conditions.  It has been rescheduled to Friday 25 October 2019 and will be held on the school oval.

School will commence at the normal time of 8.50am and finish at 3pm.  Students will need to wear their sports uniform but may wear a coloured shirt for their sports house.

The program will be run until 1.00pm with classes returning to their classrooms when not required to be at the oval.

Parents are welcome to attend to watch their child participate.  If you are able to assist your child’s teacher with the sports day activities, please advise them.

The canteen will be open during the sports day program.  There will be a special lunch menu.  Please pre-order by returning the attached order form with payment to the front office or canteen.  Alternatively, you can order using the Qkr app.  Parents are welcome to make purchases from the canteen.

Eggciting Stem task!!!

Today we went outside to the balcony to perform our giant egg drop. Students worked in teams with a $100 budget to purchase materials from a list of choices available. They then designed a device to help carry their egg to the ground from the balcony. Students needed to use their understanding of gravity and considered resistance and mass in their designs. This was a fun and engaging task. Most eggs survived the fall, a couple were not so lucky!!!

Slithery Class Visitor

Today we had a visit from Zahra’s family pet. ‘Nuckles’ is a friendly Jungle Jack Python. Zahra’s Mum and Dad brought him in for us to all see, and some were even brave enough to pat. He was a very beautifully coloured and active python and the class loved seeing him. Thanks for giving up your time to come and visit.

Indigenous games

We have been studying different Indigenous games like gorri, koolchee, buroinjin and kolap.

In groups students needed to research the rules of the game and the equipment required to play.

Today we tested our games and taught a different group how to play. It was a beautiful way to spend the afternoon in the sun with children engaging in games which involved lots of laughter, new skills and fun. IMG_5320.jpg

Moon Lantern Festival

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

The Moon Lantern Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival is a popular harvest festival celebrated when the moon is at its fullest and brightest.

At Holy Family we will be celebrating the Moon Lantern Festival on:

Friday 13 September

Students are invited to wear traditional or cultural clothing.

The 3JM and 2RG assembly will take place after recess at 11.00am and it will highlight cultural aspects of Moon Lantern Festival. Activities will include a lion dance, singing and sharing of cultural information. The winners of the Lantern Making Competition will also be announced at the assembly.

After assembly, students and families are invited back to their classrooms for a shared lunch. Students are encouraged to bring a plate of food that represents their culture.

Thank you for your support
