Guided reading with Harry Potter

A group of students in 5/6ND and 5/6NP have started reading Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone during our guided reading sessions.  I am very excited to be sharing this reading experience with the students!  It is always rewarding to read a series of books again to appreciate the text and help students make connections with characters and scenes, as well as use their imagination to depict what these look like. So far we have learned some background information about Harry Potter’s extended family, why owls are flying around during the day, random shooting stars in the sky and peculiar clothing being worn by some people in town.  Not to mention the cat sitting on the ledge on Privet Drive ALL day and night…
