Numeracy – Introduction to Money
To introduce the concept of money, students participated in a ‘Think-Pair-Share’ activity where they had the opportunity to learn from each other. Once a worded problem was presented, students worked individually for a couple of minutes to record their own strategy/method of problem solving. They then turned to a partner and explained their process to each other, before then sharing with the rest of their group of 6.
A number of students then came out the front to record their method of working out, modelling it for the class to see. Different ways to reach the same answer were discussed as well as the word problems themselves, which needed careful reading and comprehension to truly understand what it was that was being asked.
Literacy – Advertising Analysis
Together, we analysed the strengths and weaknesses of the following pizza advertisements:
The students then searched for examples of posters on the internet, that were deemed to be either ‘good’ or ‘bad’ in design, based on the analysis criteria that was discussed.
After lunch, 5DP went to the Library, whilst HN went to Spanish.
At the end of the day we all sang “Happy Birthday” to Arifah, who turned 11. We hope you have a great night with your family Arifah and enjoy your upcoming trip to Melbourne to celebrate.
