Athletics Trials Thursday 10th May
The day is about getting required students to come out to the oval and record their best efforts in hurdles, sprints, 400m, 800m, shot put, and high jump so we can pick the best team for the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival. TEACHERS PLEASE TRY AND SEND YOUR STUDENTS OUT ON TIME AND WE WILL SEND THEM BACK ASAP.
Students whose name is printed on the list sent out to teachers have been selected to trial for the sprints. (Please note trials for hurdles are open to years 5/6/7 only)
TEACHERS IF YOU FEEL YOU HAVE A STUDENT WHO SHOULD BE INVITED OUT FOR SPRINT TRIALS PLEASE SEND THEM OUT.
Long Distance – Any Student who is actively involved in weekend sports, has done cross country before or knows they can run 4 laps of the oval without walking.
Shot Put – Any student who thinks they are legitimately good at Shot Put and knows how to use the correct technique (done in PE and Sports day)
High Jump – Any student who knows they can jump 1m or more and would like to try out.
PLEASE TRY AND SEND YOUR STUDENTS OUT ON TIME TO THEIR EVENTS SO THEY DON’T MISS OUT! SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE.

THURSDAY 12TH APRIL
SPORTS DAY PROGRAM
TIME (PM)
12:00 – School Begins (students to eat their lunch before they arrive at school)
12:10 – Classes walk to Creaser Park and assemble in class groups for the opening ceremony.
JP classes sit in RELAY positions/ Year 3-5 RELAY RUNNERS sit in designated positions & remaining Year 3-5 students sit in coloured TENTS. Year 3- 7 Teachers go to their team tents to monitor and support.
12:30 – Opening Ceremony.
YEAR R – 2
12:40 – JP Baton Relays Commence
1:15 – Support UP Relays.
YEAR 3 – 7
12: 45 – UP students remain in team tents – EXCEPT Year 3 -5 relay runners who report to the marshaling area
1:15 – UP Relays Yr 3 – 5.
1:40 – Snack break in class groups
2:00 – Tabloid Rotations begin
3:30 – JP Return Equipment– then students sit with their teacher on the left side of the 100M track.
3:20 – UP Return Equipment– then Year 6/7 RELAY runners go to their designated places- remaining Year 3-7 students go to their team tents to watch and support the RELAYs.
3:40 – Year 6/7 Relays.
3:45 – Teacher vs Student Relays
3:50 – Closing Ceremony and Presentation
4.00 – Students find their teacher and are then able to be dismissed (When all students are picked up/released from class teacher. OHSC students are then to walk back to school with teacher.)
State Day
WELL DONE to the Holy Family swimmers who have been selected to represent Para Districts at the state carnival held on Thursday 22nd March.
We wish them well!
Catholic Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to our Holy Family Swim Team on finishing 3rd in the SACPPSA swimming carnival.
Kenny had a fantastic result taking out the individual age champion. The U/11 team also won the age group champion award.
A wonderful effort by all swimmers and particular thanks to Mr. Tai and Mrs Norman for acting as officials.
Thank you to the parents that came to support the team.

Swimming
Students in year 4-7 that are able to swim 25m are invited to trial to compete in the Catholic Schools and State Schools Swimming Carnivals.
Trials and training will be at:
Parafield Gardens Swimming Pool (Corner of Kings and Martin Rd)
Students need to be dropped off and picked up by an adult from the pool.
On Tuesday mornings 7:45am-8:30am
