This afternoon we looked into the wonderful celebration known as Diwali which was celebrated yesterday. Diwali is the five-day festival of lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali, which for some also coincides with harvest and new year celebrations, is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil, and light over darkness.
As a learning community we spoke about the importance of the Diwali celebrations. We had some very special helpers from year 6 come and help create our class Rangoli’s. Deepthi, An-Maria and Shanthana created original designs for our class to be able to decorate to display within our learning community. Rangoli’s are made during the Diwali celebrations and can be made out of rice, dry flower and coloured sand.
