Thursday Thrills

Hi everyone,

Another exciting day of learning at R/1EQ & MS headquarters.

We got active from the start of the day with the students participating in a cricket clinic hosted by accredited coaches from SACA (South Australian Cricket Association). Students practiced a range of skills while having lots of fun, who knows…maybe the next Travis Head or Ellyse Perry has just been unearthed. There has been a really big emphasis on student engagement in physical activity and sports this year (today’s clinic at school, coincided with 56 students from years 3-6 representing the school at a touch football carnival!) We are very appreciative of our wonderful P.E teachers Mrs Cooymans and Mr Pearce who work hard behind the scenes to make all of these wonderful clinics and carnivals available to students at Holy Family. Stay tuned for our next sporting clinic hosted by Little Athletics in coming weeks.

After recess students participated in their literacy investigations. the village was open for business and we were joined by our friends at R/1GC. An extremely engaged cohort of students busily worked throughout the session before it was time to stop for lunch.

This year the presentation was about Positive Reflection. The children loved the inclusiveness of the program and the positive nature that we showcase each day through our learning!

After lunch the children were invited to partake in 3 activities run by the Crows officials and loved every minute of it!

Hello Tuesday

Hi everyone,

This morning after come read with me, we organised ourselves by acknowledging country and going through our day as we do each morning! Before brain food we headed into the courtyard to do some aerobic fitness building with activities such as sprinting on the spot, star jumps, push ups, planks, squats, all to increase our heart rates in order to extend our stamina within our fitness, and also within our learning 🙂

Numeracy Investigations

This morning the children continued their clock learning as we shared the book,

The book goes through a chickens day in a farm, and mentions specific times when the chickens to particular jobs for the farm. Highlighting each key part and time of the day! The children really engaged with the story and highlighted and recalled at key times what the chickens were getting up too. After this as a class we sat in our welcome circle and created a large clock together with dice and paper. Today we focused on 0’clock time. Noting the importance of the big and little hands. The little hand representing the hour, whilst the big hand represents the minutes.

New Music Suite

After recess the children visited the new learning space within our school, the new music and technology suite. The area houses new music suites for private lessons and a professional green screen room with noise cancelling padding throughout the building. Enquire with the lovely ladies in the front office on how you can enrol your child 🙂
