CATHOLIC IDENTITY DAY

Today is a very special day where as a whole school community we come together to focus on our Catholic identity.

To start the day Father Shibu came to give a blessing to the whole school. His blessing focused on us all being inclusive of others…we are all unique and have our own ‘signature’ from God.

GROUP HOUSE LITURGY

In our group hose we celebrated in a special liturgy presented from the 5/6 students.

CATHOLIC IDENTITY PROVOCATIONS

The children explored some provocations that reflected our Catholic Identity….

  • Catholic symbols on the laptops
  • Designing a cross and drawing what we love inside
  • Whoever you are story table, make a heart and draw what you love about your friend
  • The Bible to read and reflect

INQUIRY – TEASPOONS OF CHANGE

On Friday, we will be exploring the UNICEF Sustainable Development Goals as a school.

We have chosen to focus on Goal number 3; Good Health and Well-being. On Friday we will be working towards making small teaspoons of change by changing our actions to help reach this goal.

“Small actions, multiplied by many people can make a BIG change”.

To begin our work on making a change, we have been learning more about what it means to live a healthy lifestyle. We have looked at keeping our bodies and our minds healthy…

What helps our bodies stay healthy?

Grace: Food makes you have energy

Mya: Food makes you grow if you eat vegetables

Deeksha: Carrots are healthy because they give you lots of energy for your eyes and they help you see

Jason: Bananas keep you healthy

Dylan: Apples sometimes you eat them and they make you so good for your body

Abel: Meat makes you healthy and fish

Porsha: Mushroom keeps you healthy because they taste very good

Kobe: Bananas keep you healthy and watermelon

Gurshaan: You can exercise to make your body healthy

Ivan: You can drink water

Michael: When you run you get more energy

Ekmann: You can to the gym to be healthy

Kobe: You can relax and do mindfulness or yoga or meditation or drink a relaxation tea

We used our 100 language to share ideas about things we are already doing to keep our bodies healthy. We also considered things we can do on Friday (and every day) to begin making those “teaspoons of change”.
