Come Read with Me is a wonderful way to start the day 

 

Fitness 

 

Healthy Foods

After fitness we used catalogues and magazines to cut out our favourite foods. We had fun chatting with our friends about the foods we love. We will use these cut outs again later to sort healthy and unhealthy foods. 

 

 

Writers Workshop 

Today we focused again on our writing, trying to write as much as we can. Some of us chose to write about the Three Little Pigs (the shared reading text we have been reading all week

)

Investigations 

 So many activities….such as playing with the Barbies, making costumes, lego, play dough and dinosaurs.

We began our day exploring different learning with our House Group.

We chose from a range of activities including dancing, soccer, minecraft, friendship bracelets and many more.

THE THREE LITTLE PIGS

We read the story of the Three Little Pigs and retold it using 100 languages.

Thursday, 1st August, 2019 – Week Three, Term Three

NUMERACY

We watched a video about big and small.

Tanish: The giant is big and the little boy is small

Celina: The giant had a big house and the boy had a little house

Abel: A big log and a small log

Porsha: A table is big and a block is small

Brooklynne: The oval is long and the roof is big

Massa: The house is big and the other house is small

We explored measurement by measuring different fruits and vegetables with different things. We used lego, popsticks and paper clips.

FITNESS

We went to Log Park for some fitness.

Wednesday 31st July, Week 2 term 3

Welcome to Wednesday!!

 

INVESTIGATIONS

Today we had a group of children work together to make some playdough. They took turns measuring how much flour, water and salt was needed. After they used their imagination to play with it – we saw cookies, jewellery, balls, pancakes and more!!!

Ivy “i mixed the flour and the salt..then we put in water. I am making a donuts with the playdough”

Massa “i am making a dog” Abel “i am making a chicken”

Korbon was making ‘forky’ inspired from the toy story movie… he had some great ideas “i need arms, eyes and legs…i think i might paint on legs”

Celina and Yamin were enjoying the craft table “we are using collaboration working together to make something, maybe its a letterbox”

PRAYER

We practiced singing some prayer songs together.

SHARED READING

We read the story ‘Goldilocks and the three bear’s role modelling fluency and expression. This is our shared reading book we are looking at all week.

MATHS

We looked at Goldilocks and the three bears and discussed sizing!! Big, Medium and small – how do we know? how do we measure? We listened to a learning story about measuring…

What were the characters in the book using to measure how much they loved each other?

Yasmin: They were showing how much they loved each other

We then came back as a group to discuss our findings.

Richard  – you have to put your hands in the right place otherwise it wont be right

Deeksha – hands are different sizes so it changes it

WRITERS WORKSHOP

Abel’s very hungry caterpillar book, inspired by our shared reading text. excellent retelling, sentence structure, comprehension and spelling phonetically – love your pictures aswell! well done Abel you have worked so hard on this book.

During investigations today we squeezed lemons and mixed it with water to make lemon juice. Before home time we spoke about where lemon juice comes from and why it is a healthy drink.

What does happy look like?

Kobe: smiling and saying nice things and being nice and inviting people to playk

Brooklynne: excited

What does happy feel like inside?

Grace: It feels good

Abel: You can take 3 deep breaths to help you to feel happy

Porsha: I feel happy when I went to someones house

Kobe: I felt happy on the playground because Carmelo and Jason let me play with them

ASSEMBLY

We had a special assembly with a focus for NADIOC week. Our class got to present a song on the stage for all to see – we did a really amazing job! Here is the song we sung!

SHARED READING

We are focusing of Fairy Tales! This week and next week we are looking at Goldilocks and the three bears. We are looking at songs and different versions of the story to see other interpretations. We are looking at adjectives of the characters, comprehension and narrative writing. Mrs Canala read us one version of the story role modelling fluency and expression.

100 LANGUAGES COMPREHENSION

Abel: Goldilocks went to the forest, she wanted a rest so she went into a house and noone was in there it was a bear house

Richard: She has golden hair

Richard, Ivan, Abel, Gurshaan and Tanish enjoyed drawing the ‘scene’ on the story onto the whiteboards.

Tanish: This is the bears house, Goldilocks is the little girl who goes inside the house inside the forest.

Hartley made ‘robot Goldilocks

Ekmann, Yasmin, Raavi and Deeksha are making a book about Goldilocks.

Ekmann: at the start of the story i am going to write…once upon a time there were three bears in a house, the porridge was so hot so they went for a walk.

Raavi: I am drawing the three bears, Mum, Dad and baby.

Williams is making his own version of Goldilocks into a book using great visual literacy and oral language to explain the story.

Celina: Goldilocks is scared of the bears, she ate all the babys porridge and fell asleep in his bed.

Thursday 25th July, Week one term three

MATHS – MEASUREMENT

We looked at the words we use to describe the size of objects. then we walked out to log park to find big, medium and small logs. The children worked with their friends to describe the sizes of logs. some children ordered logs according to size.

 

 

We then came back to the classroom and recorded what we did into our learning journals;

We sung a prayer song together and then shared our own special prayers with the class group;

Hartley was Outside in sandpit. He was mixing water to make a volcano.

Ebony shared a book she made called ‘who I am’ and ‘how i feel’. she explained how she made her books to the class – well done Ebony!!

At Fridays assembly we will be performing the Torres Strait Islander song “Taba Naba”. We practiced for our performance.

GROSS MOTOR WORKSHOP

We went for a workshop which explored our Gross Motor skills with Mr Pearce and some students from Thomas More College.

FITNESS – LOG PARK

We went to Log Park for some fitness.

LIBRARY

We went to the library to borrow our books.
