We used our ‘Get Squiggling’ video to go through the correct letter formation and then draw and write things that start with the letter Rr.
R1FD Single Lesson
This morning we continued our learning about the letter Rr. We went through what sound the letter makes and then how we write both the capital and lower case letter Rr.
We then looked at ‘letters, words, sentences’…. we brainstormed r words, then put them into a sentence. Connor reminded us that we needed to put a full stop at the end of a sentence.
Children shared a sentence with the class….
Connor – The rhino flew to the moon on a rocket.
Sahib – A boy was running.
Chloe – The rhino ran away.
Alana – The boy was running with a rabbit and a rocket ship.
Mithra – The rabbit went on the road.
Oliver – Recess is really good to eat.
Alexandros – The man getting on the train and riding on it.
Naomi – The girl was riding a bike and bumped her wrist.
Edel – Rachel fell down.
We then practiced writing the letter, a word or challenging ourselves to form a sentence.
A prayer by Joanne Doueihi from DLS Revesby Heights
You created all people in your image.
We thank you for the astonishing variety of races and cultures in Australia and in our community.
Enrich our lives by ever-widening circles of friendship, and show us your presence in those who differ most from us.
Grant that we may always promote the justice and acceptance that ensures lasting peace and racial harmony.
Grant that we may show equal respect to all persons of different cultures that we may come across.
And help us to remember and appreciate that we are one country, with many stories.
We then sang the song together, Together we can change the world.
Oliver – Thank you Thomas for being my friend Amen
Sahib – Thank you God for Oliver because he was being my best friend
Charlee – Dear God thank you for nice people, thank you for nurses and teachers Amen

Today we used Ten Frames to look at factors of 10. This was our second lesson using these frames so the children explored the use of them with counters. We looked at how we can know the different numbers on the frame as well as making 10 by looking/ counting how many more we may need for each time .
Following on from learning about Harmony Day we started a class discussion about what makes a good friend and what belonging means. The children shared…..
- Alana – belonging means something that belongs to people
- Shane – belonging is something that you have. A good friend is the kindness and hugs, not hurting people
- Jason – playing and being nice is a good friend
- Charlee – I can be a good friend by being a good and sharing my toys
- Thomas – being nice can be helping them is a good friend
- Elazar – to be a good friend and play with people
