Thursday (Term 1: Week 4)

Welcome to Thursday and what a lovely day it will be; here is our learning for the day:

R1MP shared the book It’s Ok To Be Different:

It’s okay to need some help.
It’s okay to be a different color.
It’s okay to talk about your feelings.

Athian said that we all come from different places, some of us come from Africa.

R1JH shared the book Lonely Wasp written by Charles Fuge and beautifully illustrated by Vikki Churchill:

No one wants to be friends with Wasp, they are too scared of him, until Dragonfly comes along. Then Wasp scares off the terrible Toad and shows what true friends are for. A charming story with rich vivid illustrations about feeling left out, and making friends.

Sport R1MP

The children worked in pairs and groups developing their throwing and catching skills this morning.  It was great to see the teamwork and the development of skills being demonstrated by all the children.  Well done boys and girls!

Literacy

Today we focused on the letter Tt.  We learnt about the sound the letter t makes and the name of the letter t.  Mrs Papillo’s class used their creativity and made their letter T into something else, like a tiger or a taxi or a t-rex.

After playing a Tt bingo games with markers, dice and letters, R/1JH headed off to Log Park for fitness.

LOG PARK

Madeleine was drumming …

And then she let Williams have a turn …

Meanwhile other students were ‘working out’ at the Log Park gym. Listen to Anthony’s awesome counting!

Next at the gym was an obstacle course adeptly completed by Yasha, Lowell, Anthony and Micky:

Final phase of working out …

Maths Mini

The children played the Roll and Build game this afternoon with a partner. Each person took turns in throwing a dice and then made a corresponding tower and placed it on the number.  Great partner work boys and girls.

Teamwork Challenge: Lego towers

The children were invited to use the Lego and build a tall tower in a group of 3 children.  Sahana, Victoria and Nicole made the tallest Duplo tower and Braiden, Yasha and Abel made the tallest Lego tower.  Great teamwork everyone.

Well done boys and girls, we had a very busy day, rest up and we will see you all tomorrow.
