A warm welcome to Wednesday!
Today we welcomed Miss Ritchie to R/1MP. Thank you to the students who helped her with classroom routines. And, yes, the laptops were back for the day – hooray!
GROUP 1: LETTERS AND SOUNDS
Today Group 1 were learning about the sound /l/ made by the letters ‘l’ and ‘ll’. Well done to the boys and girls in this group who did some awesome recording on their whiteboards today. We also wrote CVC and CVCC words beginning and ending in l/ll. Mrs Handforth was very proud of you all!
Here’s the tune if you want to practise the song at home (words above):
GROUP 2: LAPTOPS
Group 2 worked on the laptops during their session with Miss Ritchie. They explored literacy based activities and games.
LIBRARY
Today’s shared reading text was Dugong Magic.
There are not many dugongs left in the world now. But what if humans freed the sea from nets? What if we cleared it of rubbish so that seagrass could flourish again and dugongs could feed?
A beautiful and thought-provoking picture book about dugongs – the mysterious creatures who were once mistaken for mermaids. Deborah’s Kelly’s beautiful, lyrical writing brings these animals to life, and highlights the dangers they face, inspiring young readers to care for and protect our natural world. Lisa Stewart’s gorgeous illustrations capture the beauty of these gentle and endangered creatures.
NATIONAL SIMULTANEOUS STORY TIME
Miss Ritchie read us the story of ‘Chicken Divas’ just as all the children across Australia were reading it too!
NUMERACY
The fifth of six rotations today. Here’s what the various groups were up to.
FITNESS: LOG PARK
We finished up the day with play investigations and a classroom clean up, after which we sang the Numbers Song before departing for the day.
