Tuesday (Term 2 | Week 9)

Welcome to Tuesday, Week 9 everyone.

Here’s our learning line up for the day and our calendar.

Congratulations to a very proud Sam who has achieved his 100 nights reading award – the day before his sixth birthday! Well done, Sam.

SHARED READING AND WRITING

Today we revisited our shared text, The Messy Magpie, and reminded ourselves of the key events, characters and settings in the story. We then split into two groups to do some shared writing.

Mrs Papillo’s group were composing a sentence together, focusing on sentence boundary demarcation (capital letters and full stops), leaving spaces between words and forming letters correctly in relation to lines on the page. They had a go at writing their shared composition on a whiteboard and then had a go in their books. They were also encouraged to write an additional sentence of their own.

Mrs Handforth’s group were looking at writing several sentences to recount what Morris the Magpie did and how he resolved the problem he inadvertently created. They also discussed sentence punctuation, as well as how to use their knowledge of letters and sounds to ‘have a go’ at spelling unfamiliar words. They also discussed ways of linking two simple sentences using conjunctions such as ‘and’, ‘so’ and ‘because’.

LITERACY ACTIVITY: WRITING TASK

PLAY INVESTIGATIONS

The children attended MUSIC and SPANISH lessons in the afternoon.

Some children shared their creations from Play Investigations today: well done to Ebony, Scarlett and Isabella.
