Wednesday (Term 2 | Week 9)

Welcome to wonderful Wednesday.

The class sang Happy Birthday to Sam this morning. He was very generous and shared Krispy Kreme donuts, balloons and lollipops with all his class friends. Thank you very much Sam and we hope you enjoyed your special day.

Literacy

Mrs Handforth’s group focused on the letter w this morning and then made some words with w and they constructed sentences too. Take a look at their awesome learning.

Mrs Papillo’s group revised the ng sound by playing a game and sorting ng words into lists of real or nonsense words.

Library

We shared a wonderful story this morning about rubbish!  Garbage Guts is not the kind of thing we want floating around in our oceans and for many good reasons.

In the North Pacific Ocean lives a monster made of trash — a hungry, greedy meanie with a handlebar moustache. And though his name is Garbage Guts, he’s often called Big G. He blobs about destroying all the oceans and the seas. Garbage Guts is determined to have the ocean all for himself, and will do just about anything to get his way. How on Earth will this beast be stopped? This action-packed story explores the impact of our waste on the environment, and ways we can help save our planet.

Numeracy

Mrs Papillo”s group worked on counting and adding numbers together.  Most children recorded a number sentence to match their domino dots.

Mrs Handforth’s group worked on skip counting by tens and look at the amazing job the children did!

Science

The students were reminded of the visit to the Mudla last week where they  viewed different animal habitats.  This afternoon our focus was on ocean habitats and the students drew some animals that are found in the ocean.  Some of the animals are found in the dark, deep depths of the ocean and others like to live near the surface where the sun can penetrate the water with light.
