Tuesday (Term 3 | Week 3)

All aboard for Tuesday’s learning …

Before we set off, congratulations to these two amazing readers, Isabella and Tri who have achieved the next awards on their reading journeys … just out of this world!

Also, we have had some challenges uploading photographs to the blog today, so the range of images is more limited than usual. We hope WordPress will be its usual efficient self tomorrow 🙂

Shared Reading

Today we shared the beautifully written and illustrated story book, Twig by Aura Parker.

Finding friends isn’t easy when no one can find you! One, two, three. One, two three. Why won’t someone play with me? Heidi is a stick insect, long and thin like the twig of a tree. It’s her first day at Bug School, where she hopes to learn lots and make new friends. But no one will talk to her . . . and no one will play with her at lunch. No one notices her at all – not even her teacher Miss Orb. Perhaps she’s blending in with the branches a little too well! Finally, Heidi speaks up for herself and Miss Orb comes up with a plan to help Heidi stand out.

Literacy Activities

Due to a timetabling change to enable some children to visit the MUDLA and Fish Farm for a teacher-led activity session, today’s planned activities will be undertaken tomorrow morning. In this way no-one misses out on teacher-planned learning.

Numeracy

Today the children participated in some number work involving counting. They also recorded numbers to see how far they could go … check out these marvellous mathematicians in the making:

During Play Investigations, Mrs Papillo and Mrs Handforth were busily hearing students read individually or in pairs, as well as carrying out some reading assessments. We are very proud of the progress the children are making with their reading.

In the afternoon, the children enjoyed Spanish and Music lessons with their specialist teachers.
