Sports Day – 16th Nov (Monday Week 6)

This year our sports day will be on the Monday of Week 6.

Please see below the teams of children in R1MR and RHA

The information you also received in an email has also been attached.

 

Earlier this year, the Sports Day was cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions.  It has now been rescheduled to Monday 16 November 2020 and be held on the school oval.

 

School will commence at the normal time of 8.50am and finish at 3pm.  Students will need to wear their sports uniform but may wear a coloured shirt for their sports house.

 

The program will be run in 3 stages with classes returning to their classrooms for their normal lessons when not required to be at the oval.

 

Parents are welcome to attend to watch their child participate.

Adults needs to continue physical distancing of 1.5 metres whenever and wherever possible.  This requirement does not apply to people who live together.

A reminder that any person who is unwell or symptomatic must not attend the school.

 

If you are a registered volunteer and able to assist the class teacher with the sports day activities, please advise your child’s teacher.

9:45 – 10.55am Yr Reception – 2 classes only
11:00 -11:20am RECESS
11:30am – 12.40pm Yr 3 & 4 classes only
12.50 – 1:30pm LUNCH
1:30 – 2:40pm Yr 5/6 classes only
2:50pm Presentation
3:00pm School finishes

 

The canteen will be open during the sports day program.  There will be a special lunch menu for the day.  Please pre-order at the canteen or through the Qkr app by Friday 13 November.  Parents are also welcome to make purchases from the canteen.

Thursday. – Week 3 – Term 4

Welcome to a fun day of learning in R1MR and RHA

Bior – 2 more days till Halloween.

Gurleen – 1 more day until my sister’s assembly.

Reception Focus: Letter formation, recognition and sound

Activities:

  • Identifying and cutting out letters from magazines
  • Roll the dice and write the letter
  • Identifying initial sounds and sorting words

Year 1: Adding ‘ing’ to words, Finding words in the dictionary and building sentences using focus words beginning with focus sounds.

Activities:

  • Finding the words and adding ‘ing’
  • Finding words in the dictionary that start with ‘t’ – ‘m’ – ‘d’ and ‘c’

After watching the story we read the story from the Children’s Bible and then we reflected upon its meaning.

Ishpreet: Don’t be scared.

The disciples felt scared – what are things that scare us?

Jordan: Being in high places

Adum: Bugs

Annabelle: A flood

Hendrix: When I hear at noise

Noah: A storm and thunder.

Bior: I am scared in a storm at night time when I am sleeping.

Tina:Scary animals

Zara: Spider

When we are afraid who helps us:

Harper: God will always be there.

Hendrix:Tell you parents that you are scared and then they can help you solve the problem.

Elnathan: My parent and God because they help me.

The children then reflected upon  their understandings using words and pictures.

What did you see inside the box with the little hole?

Alice – nothing
Esrom – some boxes had nothing, 2 boxes had light.
Andreas – nothing
Kunal – I saw a butterfly
Evelyn – I saw dark
Felipe – I saw dark as well.
Jed – there was darkness.
Noah – there was dark
Tina – there was light and dark.
Bior – I saw something blue.
Keth – Nothing
Adum – There was nothing in everyone’s boxes
Elnathan – because it was dark and we couldn’t see.
Edward – if there was something shining if it was see it.
Sean – I saw something blue,
Zara – it would shine and we could see it.

I wonder how much light you need to be able to see something.

Elnathan – I think not a lot
Laura – you need a lot so you can see
Andreas – we needed more light because the hole was too small.

The light came in the box in the little hole but our bodies blocked some of the light.

To see, we need: light, eyes and maybe glasses.

Prayer

Today after recess we came in for a prayer. We rolled the prayer dice which landed on ‘movement prayer’ so we followed the movement prayer process below. After this we had some suggestions from children about what they have been grateful for recently.

Play Investigations

Today for play investigations we had activities where students created their own maps, enclosures for dinosaurs, collaborative colouring and many more.

Thursday – Week 2 Term 4

Good Morning – Only one more day until dress up day!

This morning, we were lucky to have a special guest visit Holy Family. The Greatest Discovery is a performance by Perform Education.

The performance was about choosing a favorite book and that its ok for everyone to have different opinions.

Tesi: I like it when the girl said the medals were real.

Kunal: The man said the dinosaur in the box was fake.

Adum: I like the assembly because it was funny and they were talking about books.

Owen: It was funny when they were fighting

Harper: They were dancing. They were fighting over the best books.

Avalon: I liked the music

Jed: I liked when they were rewinding back.

HASS – Art

What message is this Chinese Story telling us?

Ma Liang used his magical paintbrush to help poor people.

Elnathan – This story was about helping the poor.

Kunal – The greedy rich man wanted the golden mountain.

Adum – The greedy man wanted a golden mountain but Ma didn’t do it for him.

Esrom – Ma Liang drew the mountain behind the sea because he had a plan.

Tina – He drew the mountain back there so he could be gone.

Senay – He drew the mountain so that he could get the man away.

Avelyn – because he was not kind.

Prayer

We rolled the dice for today’s prayer and it landed on ‘Bible story’.

Elnathan looked through the Bible and choose the story from the New Testament ‘Jesus Chooses Helpers’

After we shared the story twice we reflected upon its meaning.

Elnathan: Preaching Gods words – talking about God – saying good things.

  • In today’s Bible story, Jesus chose helpers. The helpers learned about God and Jesus. Then they went to tell others. We can learn about God and His Son, Jesus, too

We rolled the dice and created some crazy, curious creatures

 

R1 MR also enjoyed library today and time with our buddies
