Welcome R1 MR and RHA  to Learning from Home – Day 1

Miss Andersen and Mrs Rodgers will be talking to all our families to see how you are all going and  also about learning from home. We look forward to checking in to see how you are all going, we miss seeing all of your smiling faces – please take care and stay safe.

Sports Day -2020

Sports Day 2020!

The weather was perfect and we were all ready for lots of fun at Holy Family Catholic School Sports Day -2020

Everyone looked fantastic in their team colours and spirits were high.

Here are some photo highlights of the day.

R1 MR and 3HS Buddy Assembly and Reflection

Buddy Assembly

The day has finally arrived and it was R1 MR and 3HS Buddy assembly today!

Thank you to all the family and friends who came to support the children and thank you for your fantastic effort to help create your child’s costume – it was a wonderful display of colour and fun.

We were so proud of the children and their Buddies, they did an awesome job. They had so much fun on stage and that is what an assembly is all about.

We hope you had as much fun watching as we did performing for you all.

Here are some highlights

Reflective Drawing

Ishpreet: My favourite part was me dancing. I was using the character strength bravery.

Tina: I like doing the assembly, I liked dancing.

Adum: I liked being on the stage because it was fun.

Avelyn: I liked the Diwali dance and the Santa Claus song and the robots and the books.

Bior: I liked doing the assembly – I liked I music and being a clown.

Owen: I liked when the Santa was coming and I pointed and my Dad and he laughed.

Kalil: I liked being a book.

McKayla: I saw Helena and I saw Becky. I did very, very good at the dance.

Alexa: I was using bravery when my Mum was waving at me.

Jordan: I enjoyed when I was walking across the stage and I was brave.

Harper: When I was dancing I was brave and I was a little nervous but I got braver.

Annabelle: I like the Santa song.

Elnathan: When I was reading I messed up a little but I read it over again and kept trying.

Senay: I liked when Eann was a clown.

Emily: I liked the Diwali dance.

Keth: I liked when I was on the stage and when I was walking and waving to the people.

Jed: I liked when we were walking up and down and my Dad was watching.

Felipe: The assembly was fun because I haven’t been on a assembly.

Jerry: I liked walking on the stage.

The children have been practising the sports day events during PE and the chants with their teams – so the time has come for the Big Events

SPORTS DAY 2020

Monday – Week 6

 

PLEASE MAKE ANY SPORTS DAY LUNCH FOOD ORDERS BY :

Friday 13th on Qrk app or at canteen

Earlier this year, the Sports Day was cancelled due to the COVID-19 restrictions.  It has now been rescheduled to Monday 16 November 2020 and be held on the school oval.

School will commence at the normal time of 8.50am and finish at 3pm.  Students will need to wear their sports uniform but may wear a coloured shirt for their sports house.

The program will be run in 3 stages with classes returning to their classrooms for their normal lessons when not required to be at the oval.

Parents are welcome to attend to watch their child participate.

Adults needs to continue physical distancing of 1.5 metres whenever and wherever possible.  This requirement does not apply to people who live together.

A reminder that any person who is unwell or symptomatic must not attend the school.

If you are a registered volunteer and able to assist the class teacher with the sports day activities, please advise your child’s teacher.

This week we celebrate NAIDOC week

NAIDOC Week is celebrated from the 8th – 15th of November

The theme for NAIDOC Week 2020 is ‘Always Was, Always Will Be’. Recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years

Wednesday is Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day is on the 11th of November. It marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918. A two-minute silence is held at 11am to remember the people who have died in wars, to remember their courage, bravery and sacrifice.

Diwali

Diwali Festival is celebrated on November 14th

Diwali is a five day Hindu festival known as the ‘festival of lights’. It is celebrated during October or November and is one of the most popular festivals in India. During this festival, people worship Ganesha, the elephant-headed God, and Lakshmi, the goddess of light, wisdom and fortune. People celebrate by lighting small oil lamps and candles to represent good winning over evil. Firecrackers are also let off to ward off evil spirits.

We were super excited today when the butterfly hatched  – we watched on the big screen the butterfly hanging upside down stretching it’s wings and getting ready to fly.

Literacy Focus: Rhyme

Book Making

During book making time the children are encourage to draw and write like a 4 year old or a five year old or a six year or a seven year old – we are all different in the way we draw and write and represent our understandings  and making ‘Books’ is  really celebration of each child as an individual. Each day we marvel of what the children bring to this task.
