Monday (Term 4 | Week 9)

Welcome to the last week of our school year. As always, a year passes as quick as ever and I have been looking back upon our wonderful year together. I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of your child’s learning and development and I have many fond memories that I will cherish forever. We will continue to learn this week with many fun activities included.

Shared Reading

There will be many stories to share this week and this one is full of divine art works by a famous artist/illustrator. The children learned that it is important to share the love of God first (at Christmas) and foremost and the presents are a nice way to share the spirit of Christmas together.

Thursday Term 4 | Week 8 CAROLS INFORMATION

Good evening families, 

Our annual Christmas Carols are tomorrow night and we would like you to meet Mrs Papillo at the Curiosity doors by 5:20pm. 

The children are encouraged to wear Christmas attire to match the festivities for the evening. Pease collect your child once they have exited the stage and enjoy the rest of the evening. Please email me or call the office if you have any questions.

Dear Families

We invite you to our Christmas Concert being held on Friday 3 December commencing from 5.30pm.  The event will be held on the school oval.  Families are encouraged to bring a picnic rug or chair.  From 5pm there will be a Gala Auction and the canteen will open for the purchase of drinks and sausage sizzle.

ELC/Reception classes will be first to perform at 5.30pm and we will then make our way through each year level, finishing with the year 5/6s.  We should conclude about 7pm.  The raffle will be drawn after the year 1 classes have performed so younger students can go home earlier if desired.

Participation by all students is encouraged, although not compulsory.  We do ask that if your child wishes to attend, then they must also perform.  Please confirm if your child will be participating by advising your child’s class teacher.

We will be asking for your cooperation to ensure the concert is safe and complies with the directions we have been given.  To keep numbers within our density requirements we will be limiting tickets to 4 per family (this does not include students of Holy Family).

Shared Reading

This morning Mrs Papillo read The Nativity to the class. A beautiful story and book of Jesus’ birth.

English | Phonics

Today the children revised the ss sound and discovered it comes at the end of words but sometimes in the middle too.

Maths

The students had a choice of activities today, covering the areas of number and shape.

 

Thursday (Term 4 | Week 7)

Congratulations to our amazing helpers and leaders of our school for speaking to the new students and parents yesterday at the transition meeting in the school hall. Miss McCarthy and Mr Pearce awarded them each with a stunning sticker.

Today we continued the book The Crayons’ Christmas. There are many letters in this book written to Duncan, the boy who keeps the crayons in his room.

Book Making

What an amazing job all the children are doing with their writing this term. I am very proud of them all!

Religion & Advent | Mass with Father Santosh

We celebrated a lovely Mass this morning. The children sang some lovely songs and were very prayerful.

Christmas

The children shared their memories about Christmas and the ways families celebrate or spend Christmas. The children discovered that we all have different traditions.

The children continued to work on subtraction today with the addition of recording their sums using the appropriate symbols.

We enjoyed the story Pig the Elf this morning.

The students revised the letter f and ff today.

The children have been working hard on their adding and taking away by playing lots of games with a partner and vocalising their ‘sums’ as they used counters, dice and ten frames.

Welcome to Tuesday everyone and here is our learning for the day:

English

Thus week we are revising the letters blends at and ng.

The children have been working hard at constructing sentences, writing them and playing sentence games too.

Maths

The children played a game of Heads or Tails today as part of our probability learning.
