Week 8 Pascua (Easter)

The Year 3/4 students have been learning about Pascua (Easter) in Spain. Students have compared and contrasted the way they celebrate Easter with their families and the way it is celebrated in Spain. Giving them an awareness of the different ways that Easter is celebrated around the world.

In Spanish students created their own “Nazareno” The “Nazarenos” are the people who participate in the Religious processions that are celebrated in Spain during “Semana Santa” (Holy Week).

Inquiry into Pascua (Easter)

Students have been looking at Pascua (Easter) in a Spanish speaking country. It has given them an awareness of the different ways that Easter is celebrated around the world.

This inquiry allowed students an opportunity to have a deeper understanding of the Spanish cultural celebrations of Easter. The investigation of Spanish festivals and religious traditions gives students opportunities to have an appreciation of the cultural diversity of different communities.

Term 1 Week 6 and 7

Señora Opazo has been teaching the Reception and Year One students a greeting song with actions. The students presented their Greeting Song using finger puppets that they made.
