Term 1, Week 4

Welcome to another fantastic week of learning!

In English, we have been exploring some new digraphs ‘ch’ (chick), ‘th’ (thumb, feather) and oo (moon). Our new tricky words learnt this week include; then, there, they. The children also worked in different small groups  on practising their blending and segmenting of words with these leant digraphs, Word Book Work (reading words and sentences), handwriting and writing sentences.

Thank you to families who have been listening to their children read every night and assisting them with their home learning tasks. This work completed at home will assist the children consolidate their classroom learning.

In Numeracy, the students continued explore their number formation and representation. This week we focused on the numbers 9 and 10. The students also explored how to count like a mathematician as they ordered numbers from 0-20.

 

 

In Religion, we explored ‘God’ and spoke about many things that God is, for example, Eternal, Healer, Love, Holy, Kind, Creator and forgiving. The children then drew what this looked like.

 

In Health, we explored the difference between bucket filling and bucket dipping. We explored ways we can fill someone’s bucket ie. helping others, packing up after ourselves and being respectful versus dipping into someone’s bucket ie. hurting others, disrespecting our environments etc.

In Technology, we looked at how food can be selected and prepared for heathy eating. We explored the food pyramid and put correct foods into their correct segments.

In HASS, we listened to the story Frank turns Four and connected it with the timelines of our own lives. The students created their very own timeline, drawing 1 picture for each age they have turned from one to seven.

In Technologies, we explored ‘healthy eating’. The students were asked to consider everyday foods and sometimes foods and how they support our bodies.
