In English, we have been learning to read and write words with the spelling patterns ‘eer’ (cheer), ‘ear’ (ear), ‘air’ (hair) and ‘are’ (beware). Students have practised identifying these sounds in words and using them in simple sentences.
In English, we have also been learning about alliteration (words starting with the same sound) and onomatopoeia (sound words). Students listened to examples, repeated model sentences, and identified the sound features together.
We practised reading short poem lines, finding the alliteration and sound words, and children finished by writing their own poem using both alliteration and onomatopoeia, followed by a matching picture.
In Maths, students continued exploring positional and directional language. They learned how to give clear directions and challenged themselves by writing their own multi-step instructions. We then had a go at using Bee-Bots, programming them to follow the directions the students created.
In Religion,
In Health, Student’s learned about the important role emergency services play in keeping us safe. They discussed why remembering the emergency number 000 is so important and explored the different ways we can contact these services when we need help. Students reflected on real-life situations and gained a clearer understanding of who to call and when.
In Technologies, In Technologies this week, students explored digital systems and learned how different parts work together for a purpose. They discovered that data is made up of tiny pieces of information that computers use. Students also practised representing data with objects, pictures, and symbols, helping them understand how information can be simplified and shared. They created their own Glyph- by creating a robot based on data all about themselves.
