Colour Run 2025

Health- In health, we looked at some different situations. The students had to write how they would feel if they encountered each situation.

Mathematics- 3D shapes- the students created their own 3D shapes out of match sticks and clay. They then had to name the shape and labelĀ  the number of faces, number of vertices and number of edges.

Term 4, Week 2

Congratulations to Thomas for achieving 150 nights of reading! Well done!

Health- (Emotions)- This week, the students talked about different emotions and feelings. They had to match the emotions to a situation. They then had to write what makes them feel happy, sad, angry and excited.

Art- Media arts- The students used the iPads to create a scene:

Term 4, Week 1

Congratulations to Anina for achieving 125 nights of reading! Well done!Ā

Congratulations to Yuona for achieving 200 nights of reading! Well done!Ā

We welcomed the students back to school on Monday, after a well earned break!

English- This week in English, students learned about procedural writing by exploring how to follow a set of instructions. We looked at the features, language, and examples of procedural texts before focusing on a fun activity- How to Make Fairy Bread! Students began by ordering and matching the written instructions with the correct pictures to show their understanding of sequencing. They then followed the steps to make their own fairy bread, carefully completing each part of the procedure before enjoying their tasty creation.

Mathematics- This week we started learning about 2D shapes. Today, the students had to find some 2D shapes around the room. They drew the objects in their book, and labelled them with how many sides and corners they have.

IST and 3SD’s Buddy Assembly-

Thank you to all the parents and families for coming and supporting the students. It was a great success!

Mathematics- In Maths we have been learning about length and height. The children measured the height of Pokémon characters using Unifix cubes, which they really enjoyed. To finish the unit, students completed an individual assessment by measuring different lines taped on the floor with Unifix cubes, recording the length and ordered them from shortest to longest showing how well they can measure and use everyday maths language. They used words such as short, shorter, shortest, shorter than, long, longer, longest, and longer than to explain and compare the lengths of the lines.

Technologies- For technologies this week, the students created a lantern for the Moon Lantern Festival, which we will be celebrating at the end of next week. Mr Platten and his judging team will be coming around next week to see what we created.

Term 3, Week 8

IPN and 3SA’s Buddy Assembly-

Thank you to all the parents and families for coming and supporting the students. It was a great success!

On Thursday we celebrated R U OK? Day by wearing something yellow to show support and remind everyone to check in with others. 1PN joined with their buddy class, taught us all about the importance of asking ā€œAre you OK?ā€ and how to be a kind and caring friend. It was a wonderful day to learn how small conversations can make a big difference.

Technologies- The challenge has been set! The students were asked to design a freestanding beanstalk that is at least 30cm tall and that can hold Jack. Here are the plans that the students made with the materials that they will need.

Term 3, Week 7

Congratulations to Amoljeet for achieving 75 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Cayden for achieving 75 nights of reading! Well done!

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY to all the fathers and father figures. Thank you to the people that came to our Father’s Day morning.

InitiaLit- This week in Literacy, students have been learning how to add suffixes –ing, –er and –s to words. We also explored the digraphs ir, ur, and er and discovered that they all make the same sound. Students first take part in a whole-class lesson, then complete independent tasks at their tables to practise and consolidate their learning.

Technologies- This week, the students tested their bridges. The troll had to fit underneath and the bridge had to hold the weight of the three billy goats. Well done classes!

Term 3, Week 6

Congratulations to Han for achieving 75 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Yuona for achieving 175 nights of reading! Well done!

Technologies- The students created their bridges this week, from their plans last week. They will test them and evaluate them next week.

Term 3, Week 5

Congratulations to Rynell for achieving 100 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Anina for achieving 100 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Thinh for achieving 100 nights of reading! Well done!

HASS- In HASS this week, we have been learning about the natural features of our environment and how First Nations Australians represent these places through stories and symbols. We listened to The Rainbow Serpent and discussed the natural places mentioned in the story. Students then explored how natural places are shown using symbols on maps and learnt about the importance of a map key. To finish, everyone created their own map using symbols to represent natural features—showing lots of creativity and great thinking!

Technologies- For technologies this week, the students designed a bridge, that they will make next week. The challenge is based on the story, ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’. Their bridge has to be tall enough for the troll to fit under and strong enough to hold the three billy goats.

Book Week Costumes-

Term 3, Week 4

Congratulations to Gurnaaz for achieving 100 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Owen for achieving 175 nights of reading! Well done!

Science- In Science, we are learning about living things, with a focus on animals, their needs, and how we care for them. This week, the children visited our MUDLA room to explore a range of animals including hopping mice, lizards, fish, and turtles. The students had the exciting opportunity to pat a lizard, watch how slowly the long-necked turtle moves, and see how fast the short-neck turtle can runĀ (which gave us a little surprise!). We also visited the fish farm, where we observed larger fish such as the barramundi. Mr McCarthy explained the needs of these animals and how he cares for them each day. The children are developing their understanding of different animals, their habitats, and the ways people help them stay healthy and safe.

Technologies- This week on Tuesday was the big day! The students, after making their boats last week, got to test them out. The challenge was for the boats to stay afloat for one minute. Afterwards, the students reflected on what they had built and wrote about what they would change if they got to make their boat again.
