Congratulations to Gurnaaz for achieving 150 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Hieu for achieving 200 nights of reading! Well done!

Religion- This week, we continued our learning about Advent. The students came up with ways that they can prepare their hearts for Advent.

Mathematics- This week in Mathematics, our students have been exploring directional and positional language. They had the opportunity to develop their understanding of concepts such as forwards, backwards, left, and right by using Bee-Bots, which are small, programmable robots that move in response to commands. The students were challenged to follow programming cards to guide the Bee-Bots along specific paths and also used an online Bee-Bot program to further develop their directional skills. These activities encouraged problem-solving, sequencing, and careful thinking, helping students apply their knowledge of positional language in a fun and engaging way.

Term 4, Week 6

Congratulations to Amoljeet for achieving 100 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Anina for achieving 150 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Rehmat for achieving 150 nights of reading! Well done!

ART- This week in Art, students used the Sketches School and Freeform apps on the iPad to create their own digital pictures and designs. They explored different tools and features to experiment with colour, line and shape, proudly displaying their growing media arts knowledge and creativity.

Science- This week in Science, students investigated how forces make objects move through a balloon rocket experiment. We explored the difference between big pushes and gentle pulls, discussed how some objects change shape when a force is applied (such as rubber bands), and observed how air creates a pushing force. Students then created their own balloon rockets using string, tape and balloons, watching how the air escaping caused the balloon to move along the string.

Term 4, Week 5

Congratulations to Rynell for achieving 150 nights of reading! Well done!

GooRoo Animations Incursion:

Our Year 1 students had an exciting two days taking part in the GooRoo Animation Workshop last week. They created their own clay characters and learned how to bring them to life using the Stop Motion Studio app on the iPads.

Students loved experimenting with stop motion—changing the speed of their videos, adding music and sound effects, and seeing how small movements can create big animations. Their finished videos have been uploaded to YouTube, and a link will be shared below for families to enjoy.

It was a wonderful opportunity for students to build their creativity and media arts skills, and we are so proud of what they achieved!

Remembrance Day- Our school came together on Tuesday to honour Remembrance Day. The whole school attended a special service in the hall, where they paid their respects and reflected on the importance of remembering those who have served and sacrificed for our country. In class, we read a Remembrance Day story and explored what the day is about. Students then made their own poppies to wear, showing respect and helping them understand the significance of this important tradition. We are very proud of the thoughtful and respectful way our students participated in the day.

Religion- This week, we started talking about Advent. It is about preparing ourselves for Christmas. The students had to choose any event and write a list of things they need to prepare for that event:

Congratulations to Han for achieving 100 nights of reading! Well done!

Congratulations to Hieu for achieving 175 nights of reading! Well done!

Colour Run 2025

Health- In health, we looked at some different situations. The students had to write how they would feel if they encountered each situation.

Mathematics- 3D shapes- the students created their own 3D shapes out of match sticks and clay. They then had to name the shape and label  the number of faces, number of vertices and number of edges.

Term 4, Week 2

Congratulations to Thomas for achieving 150 nights of reading! Well done!

Health- (Emotions)- This week, the students talked about different emotions and feelings. They had to match the emotions to a situation. They then had to write what makes them feel happy, sad, angry and excited.

We looked at the features, language, and examples of procedural texts before focusing on a fun activity- How to Make Fairy Bread! Students began by ordering and matching the written instructions with the correct pictures to show their understanding of sequencing. They then followed the steps to make their own fairy bread, carefully completing each part of the procedure before enjoying their tasty creation.

Mathematics- This week we started learning about 2D shapes. Today, the students had to find some 2D shapes around the room. They drew the objects in their book, and labelled them with how many sides and corners they have.

IST and 3SD’s Buddy Assembly-

Thank you to all the parents and families for coming and supporting the students. It was a great success!

Mathematics- In Maths we have been learning about length and height. The children measured the height of Pokémon characters using Unifix cubes, which they really enjoyed. To finish the unit, students completed an individual assessment by measuring different lines taped on the floor with Unifix cubes, recording the length and ordered them from shortest to longest showing how well they can measure and use everyday maths language. They used words such as short, shorter, shortest, shorter than, long, longer, longest, and longer than to explain and compare the lengths of the lines.

Technologies- For technologies this week, the students created a lantern for the Moon Lantern Festival, which we will be celebrating at the end of next week. Mr Platten and his judging team will be coming around next week to see what we created.
