No Challenge is Too BIG For Us!

At Holy Family we believe that the children are competent and capable. No challenge is too big for our children. We approach new challenges with a growth mindset. We believe in ourselves and we have a go! WE CAN DO IT! We approach new learning with a positive attitude.

This was evident during our home learning experience a couple of weeks ago. Many of the children had not had much experience with the laptops before. as Year Twos they all collected their devices for the very first time, took them home, opened them and had a go at using them.

Did they flourish? Yes, they did!

They used Teams like they had been using Teams for years.

Over the last couple of weeks Mrs Feher has been teaching the children how to use Microsoft Powerpoint and Firefox. We have learnt how to search on Google, locate information and images. We have learnt how to create a Powerpoint presentation, add text, change the colour of text and insert images from our Google searches. We have also learnt how to use Powerpoint to draw our own digital illustrations in preparation for publishing our own books during Writer’s Workshop.

The willingness to ‘have a go’ has been wonderful to see! Every single child in 2EF and 2AB have been fully engaged in this learning experience and the speed at which they develop these new skills is mind blowing.

They absorb it all!

Watch this space… If we have achieved this much with technology in just a few weeks, imagine what we can do in a whole year!

We are excited!

Log Park

The curiosity, engagement, creativity and problem solving skills we see from the children when they interact with Log Park is phenomenal. The way those logs are transformed into horses, seesaws, homes, camps, ice-cream shops, and restaurants astounds me. The children engage at such a level that time passes by at an incredible speed every time we are out there. The children build on positive relationships, collaboration skills, and social and emotional skills while engaging in this wonderful imaginative play.
