Science – Forces (Push & Pull)

Today 2JW & 2CZ visited the MUDLA and Kuyangani to explore fishing rods and how force applied to a simple machine (reel) can create a pulling force. Children were able to take apart the reels and look at the mechanics inside.

Following this we potted some brand new plants that will eventually be planted around the Billabong. This opened great dialogue regarding what a billabong is and why plants play an important part to our aquatic ecosystem.

Reading Diary Celebrations

Congratulations to the following children who received a certificate which recognised their reading at home. We encourage all children to read at home every night!

Book exhibition

This week the children of 2JW & 2CZ held a book exhibition within our classroom. Each child contributed a book for the exhibition. The children used sticky notes to highlight a section where they demonstrated “strong writing habits”.

This term our class has been working diligently and focusing on the process of what makes a good writer.

Week 3, term 1

We’ve had a massive week in 2JW & 2CZ. We were lucky enough to have Lisa Burman join our class for a writer’s workshop where our students explored ‘adding more detail’ to their books that they have been making.

Below you will see some photos from our science investigation where we unpacked living & non-living things. Children explored the school and found their own list of living and non-living things.

We finished our Friday afternoon with Play, Make, Do! Students were able to use their agency to explore a range of different stations. It was great to see students use their personal & social skills whilst interacting and solving g various problems!
