2AH Buddy Assembly

Good afternoon families,

On Friday 16th September, 2AH and 5/6LF will be presenting their buddy assembly.

Please join us in the Hall from 9:00am to see the show. The assembly will also be recorded and the link will be emailed to families to view at a later time, in the event that you are not able to attend on the day.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Kind regards,

Amie Hockenhull

Moon Lantern Festival

This morning we gathered for assembly and shared the whole school’s creations of lanterns.

2MA and 2AH were lucky enough to win the Year 2 Double Best Lantern Award!

Congratulations Year 2! And well done on an amazing effort in creating your lanterns.

Celebration of Learning – Writer’s Workshop

This term, we have been learning about Powerful Sentences. We revisited our learning of nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs; and learnt about co-ordinating conjunctions using ‘FANBOYS’ (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so). During our Writer’s Workshop, we had-a-go at including some more powerful adjectives, or adding adverbs and conjunctions to our sentences to help improve our writing. We had lots of fun playing around with making silly sentences during our mini-lessons too!

Have a look at some of our amazing work and sharing of learning below!

World of Maths Incursion

On Monday 5th September, our school welcomed Gary from World of Maths to share a range of learning experiences.

Our class got to work through 17 different interactive activities, exploring a range of mathematical and problem-solving skills, while working together in small groups. The students had so much fun learning maths in a different way that we might in the classroom.

Moon Lantern Festival Craft

Hello families,

We are preparing to celebrate the Moon Lantern Festival.

Next week (Week 6) we will be designing and creating our own lanterns. If you have any craft items at home that your child/children could use to create their lantern, please send them to school anytime from today. We will be providing some materials, including paper, string, and pom-poms, for students to use at school.

We are looking forward to seeing what creations the students make!

Book Week

Friday 26th August is Book Week “Dress Up Day”

Come dressed as your favourite book character.

A special prize will be awarded to the winners of the day and the wining class!

We can’t wait to see what you’ll come to school dressed as.

Numeracy – Addition

Aside

In Numeracy we have begun exploring adding two 2-digit numbers with exchanging.

We’ve had lots of fun getting to learn about exchanging while using place value charts and pop-sticks.

In this task, students worked in pairs to solve a set of sums. Students had to represent each number in the ones column, using their pop-sticks; then create bundles of 10 to exchange into the tens column.

Mindfulness

Students in 2AH and 2MA have been enjoying puzzles this week in Mindfulness. Here are some photos of students working with their peers to complete their chosen puzzle!

Numeracy

This term we have begun exploring addition and subtraction. Yesterday, we learnt how to find 10 more and 10 less by playing the game “Race to the End” with a partner!
