Important Dates and upcoming events: Term 1

SCHOOL DENTIST

My School Dentist through the Australian Dental Foundation will visit our school in Week 1 of Term 2 (29th April to 2nd May) for dental check-ups during school time for children in Early Learning to Year 6,  with one or more of the following depending on your child’s needs: x-rays, clean, fluoride treatment, dietary advice and/or oral hygiene instruction.

If you wish your child to see My School Dentist, a registration pack is available for collection from the front office or please email for one to be sent home with your child. Please return the completed registration form to the front office by Monday 7th April.  Staff from the My School Dentist program will collect the forms and contact you to confirm a booking.

If your child requires further follow-up treatment, the My School Dentist team will contact you to discuss the available options and obtain consent prior to performing any additional treatment. If no further treatment is required, your child will be seen in the next 6 to 12 months for their routine dental check-up.

After the dental check-up, children will be sent home with an oral health report card and free oral health pack, as well as you will be contacted by the treating dentist via phone regarding their appointment.

PARENT/STUDENT/TEACHER MEETINGS

Parent/Teacher/Student meetings will be held from Monday 31st March to Thursday 3rd April 2025 (week 10 term 1) for children in Preschool to Year 6. This is an excellent opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher.  Students are encouraged to be present at the meetingOnline booking system, please go to our website and click on School Interviews. HARMONY DAY

Harmony Day will be celebrated on Friday 21st March.  Students to wear traditional cultural clothing or orange or school uniform.  Special Harmony Day lunch from canteen.  Orders can be placed at the canteen, on the QKR! App or front office.  (more information see original email from 07/03/2025)

PUPIL FREE DAY

We will be having a Pupil Free Day on Friday 28th March.  The school and pre-school will be closed.  OSHC and Long Day Care will be open but bookings are essential.  Please note there will be NO Playgroup on this day.

MARKET DAY

On Wednesday 2nd April year 5 and 6 students will be hosting their Market Day.  There will be food and activities at a cost ranging from $0.50 to $5.  All money raised will go towards subsidising their Camp.  Purchases for lunch (sausage sizzle $3 each – beef or vegetarian with bread) can be made via QKR  App by 26th March 2025.  Raffle for canteen vouchers available via QKR App at $1 per ticket (drawn 2nd April 2025). BILLING OF FEES

In Term 2 we will be billing the remainder of the year (Terms 2, 3 & 4) in one invoice for all students in Reception to Year 6.  Fees should be paid in full by the end of the year.  A 5% discount will be applied if the balance of fees are paid by  Friday 30th May 2025. Please check the Community Portal to keep track of any outstanding balance.  If you have not registered for the Community Portal please contact staff to re-send the link.

VACATION CARE

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

School finishes at 3pm on Friday 11th April 2025.  We will resume on Tuesday 29th April 2025at 8.50am.

Please note there are 3 public holidays during School Break as follows:

  • Friday 18/4 (Good Friday);
  • Monday 21/4 (Easter Monday);
  • Friday 25/04 (Anzac Day).

 

PROJECT COMPASSION BOXES

If you have been able to receive/make donations can you kindly return your box with your child or to the front office by the last day of Term 1, Friday 11th April 2025.

Dear Year 2MR and 2NP Students and Parents,

As we come to the end of a wonderful year, we want to take a moment to express our heartfelt thanks to all of you.

To our  incredible Year 2 students: You have made this year truly special with your enthusiasm, curiosity, and hard work. we are so proud of how much each of you has grown—whether it was in learning new skills, making new friends, or facing challenges with confidence. Your energy and joy have made the classroom a wonderful place, and we will always treasure the memories we’ve created together. Thank you for bringing your best selves every day!

To the parents: Your support, trust, and partnership have meant the world to us. Thank you for being so involved in your child’s education, whether it was helping with homework, volunteering, or simply offering kind words. You’ve played such an important role in this year’s success, and we are incredibly grateful for your commitment to your child’s learning journey.

As we move into the summer break, we hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved rest. We look forward to seeing all the progress and growth that will come next year.

Class Party – Tuesday 10th December

On Tuesday the 10th of December – from 12 0’clock – we will enjoy a shared lunch to celebrate a wonderful year of learning together.

Come & Try Day: Tuesday November 12th

Hello Families

Below is the email that was sent about the come and try day.

Thank you to the families who have completed the form and payment so far. If you haven’t please do so as soon as possible. If you have any questions please come and ask or see the front office staff.

What your child needs to bring:

A small backpack or bag (that your child can manage) which carries their lunch, recess, water bottle and hat.

It is going to be a very fun day. The weather will be warm so please apply sunscreen before coming to school.

Dear Families,

As part of National Physical Education Week, Holy Family Catholic School is participating in the SACPSSA ‘Come & Try’ day. We are taking all Year 2 classes together with Student Leaders to give them a chance to experience carnivals in preparation for sporting carnivals next year.

For your child to attend the carnival, please complete consent form and payment via QKR App by Friday 7th November.

 Instructions for the Qkr! App are available at http://www.holyfamily.catholic.edu.au/parent-resources/.  Vietnamese and Khmer versions are also available.

The details for this event are as follows:

Date:   Tuesday 12th November 2024

Location:          Parklands (corner of Goodwood Road and South Terrace)

Cost:   $10 for bus

Time:   Arrive at school 8.45am leaving by private bus and returning at approximately 3:00pm.

 Things to bring: Recess and Lunch.  Wear full sports uniform with hats.  Extra water bottle.

To allow the excursion to happen, we will need parent helpers with a Catholic Police Clearance.  If you are able to assist, please let us know as soon as possible.

Spring Fair Donations

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

Spring Fair is this Sunday  (October 20th), we are seeking donations for the Year 2 ‘Spin and Win’ stall. If you have any stationery, toys, bags of lollies or similar items that you would be willing to donate, we would be incredibly grateful.

Here are some examples of items we’re looking for:

  • Stationery: Notebooks, pens, art supplies, stickers
  • Toys: toys suitable for various age groups e.g. fidgets, lucky dip toys
  • Lollies/Chocolates: new and unopened bags of confectionary e.g. multi-packs of lollies

Your contributions will be greatly appreciated and all proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the school. Donations can be sent into school with your children or dropped off in the classroom.

COLOUR RUN THIS THURSDAY 26TH

All Families are invited to join us for the colour run this Thursday! It’s the last week to collect donations. All donations must be done by Wednesday including cash donations brought to the office.

Students to wear casual clothing with a white top on the day.

Below is a rough timetable of when the classes will be participating in the colour run.

Once our class has participated in the colour run, you are welcome to collect your child and take them home. However, please sign out with your teachers.

REMINDER: Moon Lantern Festival TOMORROW THURSDAY 12TH SEPTEMBER

The Moon Lantern Festival or Mid-Autumn Festival is a popular harvest festival celebrated when the moon is at its fullest and brightest.  At Holy Family we will be celebrating the Moon Lantern Festival TOMORROW Thursday 12th September 2024. 

Students are invited to wear traditional or cultural clothing.

Assembly hosted by 2EV, 5TN and RFL will take place at 9:00am and it will highlight cultural aspects of Moon Lantern Festival. Activities will include a lion dance, singing and sharing of cultural information. The winners of the Lantern Making Competition will also be announced at the assembly.
