Welcome to WEEK 11.
We hope you enjoyed a wonderful long Easter weekend with friends and family.
READING WORKSHOP
In 3JH a group of readers worked with Mrs Handforth. They read an information text about pythons. After this, they answered questions by retrieving directly stated information. Well done Hayley, Mason, Ethan and Leo.
Students not working directly with their teacher have the opportunity to choose from a selection of book related activities until their turn for guided reading later in the week.
WRITER’S WORKSHOP
Today’s focus min-lesson was on adverbs. We discussed what they are, spotted examples being used in sentences and texts, and then created some sentences of our own adding adverbs.
MATHEMATICS
Mrs Stam introduced our focus for the week as we began investigating odd and even numbers. Mrs Stam asked us to add odd and odd numbers, odd and even numbers and even and even numbers, and see if we saw any patterns. Mrs Handforth worked with Hayley and Mya, who discovered that:
EVEN + EVEN = EVEN (e.g. 4 + 4 =8, 32 + 24 = 56, 14 + 14 = 28)
ODD + ODD = EVEN (e.g. 3 + 3 = 6, 19 + 17 = 36, 101 + 9 = 110)
ODD + EVEN = ODD (e.g. 3 + 6 = 9, 11 + 10 = 21, 45 + 2= 47)
Some students played a game called Odd and Even, focusing on identifying odd and even numbers.
RELIGION
The students continued with their short inquiry about a Catholic Saint of their own choosing.
Apologies for no photographs today … teachers were busily engaging with learners.
