Thursday (Term 2 | Week 1)

It’s Thursday in Rooms 23 and 24. Here’s what we learned about today:

SCIENCE

Mrs Handforth is teaching us about chemical sciences this term. We will be exploring materials in relation to heat and cold, as well as developing our observation, recording and investigation skills. We began by sorting 12 different materials into two groups, classifying them as either solids or liquids. Once we did this we had to think about what makes solids, solids ad liquids, liquids: in other words, what properties did the materials share that helped us to classify them.

Following this we made a substance called ‘ooblik’ and tried to work out if we could classify this as a solid or a liquid.

MATHEMATICS

We continued with worded problems involving addition and or subtraction. Mrs Stam also provided the students with NAPLAN style worded questions on cards to practise ahead of the actual NAPLAN tests in Weeks 3 and 4 of this term.
