Thursday (Term 2 | Week 3)

Happy Thursday, everyone!

NAPLAN

Congratulations to our students, most of whom have sat three tests over three days. Tuesday they did their writing test, Wednesday they did reading and today they did Language Conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation). We have been proud of their positive attitude to the tests and willingness to ‘give it a go’ and ‘try their best’. There is NO test tomorrow, as the last test, Mathematics, is on Monday next week.

SCIENCE

Today we were undertaking a fair test in Science. We explored whether adding materials to ice affected its melting rate. We worked hard to keep things ‘fair’, changing only one variable – the material we added to the ice. Everything else – the size of the ice cube, the amount of the material, the location of the experiment, and so on, we kept the same. We discovered that SALT seemed to be the material added that melted ice the quickest with sugar coming second and flour third. We timed using stopwatches on our laptops. Whilst the ice as melting, we drew diagrams of our experiment in our learning journals.

AUTUMN LEAF ART

We got creative with leaves in the afternoon. Mrs Stam organised some provocations for us to explore.
