Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children’s authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. You will often see parades with students dressed as their favourite book character. What a wonderful celebration of literature and characters we had on Friday! Well done to those who dressed up as their favourite character!
Tomorrow we celebrate Book Week, an initiative of the Children’s Book Council of Australia. This week, as part of Book Week, the library has hosted a series of activities and events to promote and celebrate reading.
On Friday 20 August (tomorrow), we are having a dress up day where students are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite character from a book.
Hello bloggers!
Welcome to Day 3 of home learning, and more importantly… FriYAY! 🙂
Today is going to look a little different for your children as we are going to be experimenting with a few changes to their day. Morning check in will be conducted through a live stream where your child will be able to see and hear your teacher, but will not be able to video or voice record themselves. Children will be able to engage with the conversation via replying to the thread this live feed is on. This morning live stream will be at 9:00am each day.
Similarly, we will also be finishing our day with a live stream to once again check in and see how their day has gone, especially with the changes made. This end of day check-in will be at 2:00pm.
All this information will be explained to your child during our Live Morning Teams Check in.
We hope this changes will enhance your child’s learning whilst working at home, and moving forward during this period of time 🙂
Please have a look at today’s timetable below:
Hi all!
Here is an outline of today’s learning! Students please remember to log onto Microsoft Teams at 9:00am for our morning chat and to receive the work in more detail.
Remember to take your time and have breaks throughout the day! 🙂
We hope that you are your families are staying safe and healthy during this time.
We took time in our day today to think about what there is to be grateful for! Here are some of our heartwarming responses.
We were lucky enough to participate in a special art workshop connected to the Oz Asia Festival this coming October.
As a part of the sustainability focus, students brought in an old white 100% natural fibre (cotton/linen) item to dye and donate to the project (sheet/t-shirt/tea towel/old curtain etc.). Thank you for your support with this.
We thank Truoc Nguyen for teaching us a new special tie dye method using onion and turmeric!
Wow – look how they turned out!!
Dear Families,
Holy Family’s Sports Day for 2021 will be held on Friday 23 July (week 1, term 3) on the school oval.
School will commence at the normal time of 8.50am and finish at 3pm. Students will need to wear their sports uniform but may wear a coloured shirt for their sports house.
This year, we have amalgamated the sports houses and learning houses together and students are allocated to one of the Houses listed below:
The program will be run in 3 stages with classes returning to their classrooms for their normal lessons when not required to be at the oval.
Parents are welcome to attend to watch their child participate.
Parents are also reminded that when entering the school, they must check-in by scanning the SA Health QR code or completing the paper recording log template. The paper recording template is available in the front office.
Please note the COVID SAfe Check-in is purely for SA Health contact tracing purposes and does not replace our normal visitor sign-in process.
Adults needs to continue physical distancing of 1.5 metres whenever and wherever possible. This requirement does not apply to people who live together.
A reminder that any person who is unwell or symptomatic must not attend the school.
If you are a registered volunteer and able to assist the class teacher with the Sports Day activities, please advise your child’s teacher.

On Friday, as a school, we celebrated, Mission Day. Our whole school Mass with Father Shibu taught us to always give to those less fortunate than ourselves. Through giving we are doing God’s work with our own hands.
During the afternoon, the children visited the stalls of each class and make purchases of goods. As a whole school we raised over $2100, which will be donated to charities to support those in need.
Thank you to all the families who donated and helped to make this such a special day!
