Book Week has been an incredible celebration this year, with lots of excitement and enthusiasm from students of 5KF and 6LF. The students truly shone in their imaginative costumes, embodying beloved characters from their choice of books. We had a wonderful assembly and parade that the students participated in this morning. As Mr Bartold said… maybe one day you will be an author of a book and students will be dressing up as their favourite character from the book you have written!

School Photos

School Photos will be taken on Wednesday 28 August (week 6, term 3).Please ensure that photo order forms are sent to the front office.

Envelopes to order Family Photos are available from the front office with family photos taken first from 8.30am.  We also have spare envelopes at the front office if any student needs a replacement one.

Please note that payment for both student photo and family photo order can be made online or cash.

Please remind students in Reception – Year 6 to wear winter uniform (not PE uniform) for school photos.

Festival Choir Students

Children participating in Festival Choir have an excursion scheduled for Wednesday 28 August.  If the excursion participants have not returned from the excursion before the photographers have finished on the day, it will be done on Tuesday 3 September.

KF recently enjoyed a fantastic “World of Maths” incursion! This engaging experience highlighted how math extends beyond traditional pencil and paper equations, demonstrating its practical applications in real-life scenarios.

Our students had a blast collaborating in teams and tackling various challenges, deepening their understanding of math in a fun and interactive way.

To Parents/ Caregivers

We are excited to share with you an engaging learning unit for STEAM (Science, Technology, Ecology, Art and Mathematics) we have been focused on going to Mars! Our students have the mission to explore and understand what it would take to travel to and live on Mars.

We have explored the reasons behind the need to reach Mars where students brainstormed and discussed what they already know about Mars and consider why it might be important to travel there in the future. Topics have included challenges on Earth such as global warming and overpopulation. Each student will then research and present their ideas on why going to Mars might be necessary.

We have focused on the  practical aspects of getting to and living on Mars. Students will work together in groups to determine what is required for a successful mission. They will address essential questions such as:  How will we travel to Mars? Will we use existing spacecraft, or will new technology need to be developed? How will astronauts breathe, eat, and maintain their health? Considerations will include the need for oxygen, food sources, and how to manage water and climate conditions.

We believe this unit will not only spark interest in space exploration but also encourage critical thinking and problem-solving skills. We look forward to your child’s insights and discoveries as they work through these exciting topics.
