Nina Marni – Nǐn hǎo – Selamat siang – Namaste – Ya su – Hola – Bonjour to beautiful children and families, and welcome to our weekly blog
This week at Holy Family Early Learning we celebrated Harmony Week.
Our Learning Intention for this week is to nurture each child’s and educators’ identity through connecting with and learning about their culture and community.
Being part of a community has many benefits for a child. It can create that sense of belonging, strengthen their sense of identity through positive relationships with other people in the community.
• Promote in all children a strong sense of who they are and their connectedness to others – a shared identity as Australian’s.
• Build on the culturally valued learning of individual children’s communities. To build upon culturally valued child rearing practices and approaches to learningAcknowledge each child’s uniqueness in positive ways.
• To promote children’s sense of belonging, connectedness, and well-being.
• Maintaining high expectations of each child’s capabilities
• Children begin to learn how to interact with others through observation and support. We believe it is important that children are given the opportunities and resources to enter play scenarios with their peers to develop an understanding on how to interact with others respectfully.
• Supporting children to develop the understanding to interact in relation to others with care, empathy, and respect.
• Modelling consistent language that enables clear and confident communication with peers.
• Children demonstrate trust and confidence when they feel accepted, develop attachments, and build relationships. They accept new challenges, make discoveries, and celebrate the accomplishments they individually achieve as well of their peers.
• Prayer time at the initial start of teaching times is regularly implemented to support children’s spiritual development and identity.
ILP’s: All Children.

Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week . Traditionally orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect . Cultural clothes worn by Educators, Teachers and children . During the week children engaged in a range of orange themed activities. this includes an orange painting, orange play dough and our chef Angela used her wonderful imagination to cook orange cakes for the children . We gathered together with LDC 4 and Preschool to share our afternoon tea as one big Holy Family Early Learning Community.
