Preschool Learning Reflection Term 3, Week 2,2024

Nina Marni To all.

Welcome to our week 2 Blog.

Our first intention is to support new children from LDC 3 and their families to develop a sense of belonging in the LDC4 & Preschool learning environments as well as helping existing children returning back from holidays to the rhythms and rituals of Preschool and to develop relationships within their community and throughout our Holy Family Early Learning Environment

  • In early childhood settings children develop a sense of belonging when they feel accepted, develop attachments and trust those that care for them. As children are developing their sense of identity, they explore different aspects of it (physical, social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive), through their play and their relationships.
  • We have some new children and families joining our community this term who will need support adjusting to our Preschool Rhythms, Rituals and Routines.
  • Children have a right to belong to a community and it is important that they are supported to develop this understanding. Through developing this understanding, children are supported to broaden their understanding of the world and their place and role in it.
  • After a period away from the Preschool environment, it is important to re-engage and remind the existing children of the rhythms, rituals and expectations of Holy Family Early Learning.

We have been supporting children to adjust to our group time expectations.

Weekly focus : Book making

Starting from scratch – what is a book? What is the purpose? Who reads books? Who writes books? What do they look like? Teachers will use information gained about prior knowledge to decide next steps.

Educator facilitated small group experiences have been very meaningful this term. As children participated in calming experiences such as threading and weaving and sensory experiments we are able to connect, respond and share joy.

Our Community Walk for this week….

LIBRARY……

We are so lucky to have access to our school Library which support our young learner to develop their early literacy and language skills in fun and engaging ways.

Specks of gold !

Have a lovely and relaxed weekend to all !
