Nina Marni, all our energetic Learners and our wonderful families,
Welcome to our first term & week four blog.
Learning Intention:1
To refine and establish a daily routine that supports consistency and predictability for children and educators yet remains responsive to the needs of the community.
Why?
- With Holy Family Early Years opening this month, the environments have been updated and renovated and there have been changes to the group of children and educators. With this change there are also changes to room routines and expectations.
- The establishment of predictable routines supports children to understand what to expect in their day and provides a sense of comfort and supports the development of resilience as children are aware of the events in their day which in turn contributes to children’s ability to self-regulate.
- When educators create environments in which children experience mutually enjoyable, caring and respectful relationships with people and the environment, children respond accordingly. When children participate collaboratively in everyday routines, events and experiences and have opportunities to contribute to decisions, they learn to live interdependently.
- Predictability and consistency is important for children as it provides them with a sense of safety and understanding about what will happen next in their day. It is also important that educators make judgements in the moment that will best support the wellbeing of all.
- Collaborative room agreements made between children and educators ensure children feel heard and safe within their new environments.

Learning Intention:2
To support new children and families to develop a sense of belonging to the Holy Family Early Years learning environments and to develop relationships within their community.
Why?
- We believe children begin to learn about themselves and construct their own identity within the context of their families and communities. We view HFEY as an important part of this community and believe we have a responsibility to create positive experiences that will support children’s deep understanding of themselves as significant and respected members and citizens of the world.
- In early childhood settings children develop a sense of belonging when they feel accepted, develop attachments and trust those that care for them. As children are developing their sense of identity, they explore different aspects of it (physical, social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive), through their play and their relationships.
- Children begin to learn how to interact with others through observation and support. We believe it is important that children are given the opportunities and resources to enter play scenarios with their peers and start to develop an understanding how to interact with others respectfully.
- Children have a right to belong to a community and it is important that they are supported to develop this understanding. Through developing this understanding, children are supported to broaden their understanding of the world and their place and role in it.

Learning Intention 3:
Sacred symbols are special and important.
Why?
Doctrinal Insights from the Catholic Tradition that support this Enduring Understanding include:
Sacred symbols remind us that God is close to us, and with us.
• In my Catholic learning environment, I can see many sacred symbols.
o Candle flames remind us that God is with us.
o The Bible reminds us of God’s love for us through special stories.
o The Cross reminds us of Jesus.
o Water is used for special blessings
• Sacred symbols are used in my school/ELC and in church celebrations, prayer and liturgy. (CCC1145)
Other faith traditions also have sacred symbols
ILP’s: All Children.
The Sign of the Cross is a prayer to God. The Sign of the Cross is a prayer with actions and words. The words remind us that God is called Father, Son and Holy Spirit. T he actions represent the symbol of the Cross, and that prayer involves our head, heart and body. |
Children learning and practicing doing prayer with different educators everyday & aslo they all are enjoying this regular routine. During prayer time we talk with children about their feeling and emotion. We trying to help children with best support by providing best care & service.

God has established prayer as a means for us to communicate with him. Through prayer, we can praise God, ask for forgiveness, thank God for all he’s done, and let our requests be made known to him. Prayer allows us to open our hearts to God and let him know our innermost thoughts and desires.
