Holy Family Catholic School Early Learning Blog LDC -4 (Term -1/Week 6)

Nina Marni, all our active learners and great families,

Welcome to our first term & week six blog.

Learning Intention:1

To nurture and deepen each child’s innate sense of agency in decision making and routine/self-help tasks.

Why?

  • The sense of agency is defined as the sense of oneself as the agent of one’s own actions. This also allows oneself to feel distinct from others and contributes to the subjective phenomenon of self-consciousness.
  • In the approved learning frameworks, agency is defined as being able to make choices and decisions to influence events and to have an impact on one’s world. Supporting children’s agency is about recognizing that children have a right to make choices and decisions and can initiate their own learning.
  • Children who have opportunities to effectively assess and manage risk at an early age will be better equipped to deal with risk as an adult. It also creates a learning environment where children can identify their limits, seek help when need, and supports children to explore, experiment and cope with the unexpected.
  • There are many benefits to children participating in decision making, such as learning to consider the needs of others, developing problem-solving skills and it can increase their commitment to making decisions work.

ILP’s: All children

In our Long daycare 4, Children improving their self help skills slowly. Children involved our group time activites in regularly with learning our daily routines visuals. Children enjoyed daily prayer with friends. During group time children put their hands up and waiting for their turn untill educaor called their name.

Rita told harrison, you didnt put sunscreen on your leg.

Bentley helping educator for reading story in group time with showing pictures.

Sadie, Amber, Henry and yuri enjoyed yoga and dance activity very much.

Asher, sharma,Lucas, Jess & Bentley exploring his train activity with improving their sharing and taking turns skills.

Luka cooking some pasta for dinner.

Sebastian loved bike riding always.

Lucas singing “Five little ducks” nursery rhymes with playing some duck toys.

Children enjoyed lots of different activities and learned various daily tasks to performed independently in our daily routines.

COMMUNITY FUN WITH FRIENDS:- Playground and sand pit.

This week we visited our school playground offenly on children’s choice. Children implemented lots of fine motor and gross motor skills by jumping, running, climbing, sliding in the playground. Sebastian gave instruction to littel jayde, ” Careful Jayden, othervise you fall on the ground.” He is very kind and caring our little man.

Playgrounds provide children with a safe space to have fun, but their benefits extend far beyond that. While children are having fun on the playground, they’re actually growing and developing in ways they could never imagine. Playgrounds are the perfect place for children to engage in free or unstructured play. When children are on the playground, different structures and spaces give them the freedom to choose how they want to play. They can explore their own natural tendencies, interact with a broader range of age groups and awaken their creative instincts. Unstructured play on the playground gives kids opportunities to develop their capacity for creativity, decision-making abilities, and problem-solving skills, especially at young ages.

We also visited in school sand-pit area. Children collected lots of different size of sticks. Bentley wants the largest size of stick as compared to his other friends. Children was compared their sticks lenths to each other and impruving some mathematical skills. Children learning variety of skills learning tjhrough play with nature.

Learning Intention:2
To support children’s expression of ideas and identity through mark-making and art experiences.
(Revisiting this learning intention to extend their book making experiences)

Why:
• Mark making simply refers to the creation of different patterns, lines, textures, and shapes.
• Mark-making is not just about early writing; it is a sensory and physical experience which can be enjoyed by all ages and abilities.
• As well as early writing, mark-making can develop into mathematical representation and creative expression.
• Making marks enables children to develop their hand eye co-ordination and fine motor skills through practicing to hold a tool,
• deciding what grip suits them best, which hand feels most natural and through making small, controlled movements using the tool.
• By giving children, the opportunity to explore different mediums of mark making, it engages them in sensory play and allows them to discover exciting new materials.
• This helps to enhance a child’s critical thinking, brain development and language development, which gives them the ability to
• build onwards more complex learning tasks in the future.

ILP’s: All Children.

Simple marks like lines, shapes, and patterns help children understand mathematical concepts like symmetry, numbers, and spatial awareness. Over time, these skills translate into recognising and forming numbers and shapes. Mark making and Art/Drawing help children to develop many of these skills, particularly composition and transcription. These activities also promote understanding of the purpose of writing, as children begin to see how drawings and marks can communicate and share their ideas and feelings. It will also help to children practicing more fine motor skills with including eye hand co-ordination.

This week educators made childrens name for attandance so eveyday when child arrived in our Early Learning center, they put their name on the wall next to our long daycare 4 door. So everyone knows that who is here today?

MEET OUR LITTLE ARTIST:- CHILDREN MAKING COLOURFUL PAINTING WITH CURRY LEAVES AND PAINTS.

Our children exploring their imagination by Learning through play. Play can expand children’s thinking and enhance their desire to know and to learn. In these ways play can promote positive dispositions towards learning. Children’s immersion in their play illustrates how play enables them to simply enjoy being.

Through this painting activity children learning and improving,

  • Creativity
  • Fine motor skills (using fingers to carefully spread the paint getting all of the corners of the leaf colored in)
  • Sensory play (feeling the paint inside the baggie, using fingers, etc.)
  • Hand-eye coordination (using the fingers to spread the paint making it go where the child wants it to go in correspondence to hand movement)

SUSTANABILITY: COLOUR SORTING ACTIVITY WITH DIFFERENT COLOURED BOTTLE LIDS.

Colour sorting activity helps children to make and create groups/sets.

Colour bowls and tongs according to the colour of bottle caps available. Place the colour bowls and tongs on tables (as seen in picture) and encourage children to sort the coloured bottle caps accordingly.

Cognitive Development: Through colour sorting activities, children learn to recognise patterns and make decisions, building pathways for future learning. They develop the ability to notice similarities and differences, a crucial skill for mathematics and science.

Learning Intention 3:
Sacred symbols are special and important.

Why?
Doctrinal Insights from the Catholic Tradition that support this Enduring Understanding include:
Sacred symbols remind us that God is close to us, and with us.
• In my Catholic learning environment, I can see many sacred symbols.
o Candle flames remind us that God is with us.
o The Bible reminds us of God’s love for us through special stories.
o The Cross reminds us of Jesus.
o Water is used for special blessings
• Sacred symbols are used in my school/ELC and in church celebrations, prayer and liturgy. (CCC1145)
Other faith traditions also have sacred symbols

ILP’s: All Children.

The Sign of the Cross is a prayer to God.

The Sign of the Cross is a prayer with actions and words.
The words remind us that God is called Father, Son and Holy Spirit. T
he actions represent the symbol of the Cross, and that prayer involves our head, heart and body.

God has established prayer as a means for us to communicate with him. Through prayer, we can praise God, ask for forgiveness, thank God for all he’s done, and let our requests be made known to him. Prayer allows us to open our hearts to God and let him know our innermost thoughts and desires.

Children looked very engaged and peceful during prayer time. Teaching young children repetitive prayers is a good way to begin. It provides structure and reinforces basic truths. But for prayer to become truly meaningful, it needs to progress to conversational prayer that flows from the heart. After Prayer we was discuss about god and faith.
