Learning Intention 1: To support children’s wellbeing as they transition to school in Term 3Why:As children approach the transition to school they may be experiencing certain feelings such as fear, uncertainty and nervousness.Supporting children in identifying their various emotions and feelings, and discussing about them equips children to feel safe, supported and valuedBeing aware of children’s developmental milestones, particularly emotional and social development, helps educators understand what to expect at different ages and stages in children’s lives.The importance of a positive transition to school experience has been consistently emphasised in research around the world. A large body of evidence suggests a successful transition helps improve children’s educational and social outcomes.

To know who Jesus is and understand that Jesus was part of a loving family To understand that all beings including Jesus, are God’s creationWhy? Doctrinal Insights from the Catholic Tradition that support this Enduring Understanding include:Jesus was part of a family with Mary and Joseph who loved and cared for Jesus.This family is called the Holy Family.Families share love and forgiveness.We all all part of God’s creation





Literacy and numeracy intentions
Literacy : To encourage creativity, language development, problem-solving and self-expression by engaging with a story table (The very hungry caterpillar)To help children become familiar with rhyming words Why? Inquiry Project – Insects
Children have shown a great interest in insects that they have seen in the outdoor environment. Children have been collecting millipedes, crickets and ants in various containers and observing them (BC, LW, HW, HoM, HaM, SP, YG, JN, JL, LF)
This week, children will be exploring caterpillars through non-fiction books and art and craft activities – discussion on what similarities children can identify when compared to other insects
What we know :
There are many insects outside Millipedes, beetles, spiders and flies and bees – LW
Millipedes beetles and big spiders – SP

I saw millipedes and a bug, even a cricket – JN
