Preschool Reflection – Term 3/ Week 5

Niina Marni to our beautiful children and their wonderful families. Welcome to our weekly blog.

Learning intention:
To understand that the world is a gift from God and God fills the world with love. We can experience God through creation and the love around us.

Each morning children engage in making the sign of the cross, singing the prayer song and saying a little prayer to God our Father. Children join their hands and engage in song and prayer respectfully – these rituals have been embedded into our daily routine. We have also been discussing about God’s creations and identifying what God has created. We have also been practising to say what we are thankful for in our lives. We will continue to discuss about God’s creation in the following week.

Learning Intention:
To support the development of fundamental movement skills, especially jumping and throwing

Literacy Intention:
To celebrate book week by listening to a variety of books and engaging in a variety of activities

Children engaged in a range of experiences during Book Week. They listened to many stories throughout the week and engaged in activities related to them. Children engaged in small world play related to ‘The Five Little Ducks’ rhyme. They listened to ‘The Smartest Giant in Town’ and designed a new outfit for George, recreated Elmer using paper collage, made houses for The Three Little Pigs, made gingerbread cookies inspired by The Gingerbread Man story and many more.

It was amazing to see so many children dressed up in their favourite book character and enjoy their day where they expressed themselves, shared their love of books, and felt a sense of accomplishment in embodying their chosen character. The level of creativity and imagination that emerged through the experiences were invaluable. These experiences also provided the opportunity for children to develop and expand their vocabulary.
