Learning Intention 1
To Establish within our Precious Children focusing on developing self-regulation strategies and positive dispositions in our Early Learning Center.

[1] Educators can develop deeper understandings of the importance of wellbeing in a child’s learning.
[2] As a team we have established immediate points of action to support our community in their holistic development.
[3] It is important for us to lay the foundations to maximize the opportunities for children throughout their ongoing education.
[4] Recognize the importance of wellbeing and perceptions of the child.
[5] Acknowledge their ability to build social networks of support, feel confident as learners, and manage the challenging emotions that will arise when facing the unknown faces.
[6] Fostering willingness and build self-confidence, enjoyment of learning ad minimizes the fears around taking a risk to learn.
[7] Strengthens the art of teaching. It recognizes the critical importance of relationships, perception of self and the wellbeing and emotional states of complete engagement.

“Self-regulation brings together the nature versus nature argument. It demonstrates that both are important in children’s development.
“Though all children have the ability to develop self-regulation, to do this they must experience supportive envirnment.”
“Children need the guidance and support of trusted adults who understand their needs and help them develop alternative strategies to regulate their emotions.”

Learning Intention:2
Learning Intention: To support children’s understanding of the importance of sun safety and embedding consistent daily sun safe practices across our team and learning environment.
Why: –
- Children take increasing responsibility for their own health and physical wellbeing – (Early Years Learning Framework, Learning outcome – 3).
- Children show an increasing awareness of healthy lifestyles.
- Children show increasing independence and competence in personal hygiene, care and safety for themselves and others.
- Explaining the time of the days that important for sun protection.
- Showing them the tools, they need to protect their skins in the environment.
- Introducing Sun Smart Protection steps.
- Encouraging children to drink water.

Everybody needs some sun exposure to produce vitamin D (which helps calcium absorption for stronger and healthier bones). But unprotected exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and immune system. It can. There are other contributing factors such as heredity and environment. But sunburn and excessive UV light exposure do damage the skin. This damage can lead to skin reaction or premature skin aging (photoaging).
Sunscreens protect the skin against sunburns and play an important role in blocking the penetration of ultraviolet (UV) radiation. But no sunscreen product blocks UV radiation 100%. A sunscreen protects from sunburn and minimizes suntan by absorbing or reflecting UV rays. Using sunscreens correctly is important in protecting the skin.
Educator talk everyday in our grouptime about our daily routine with visual cards. Educator teaching children about calender including days of the week, month, date, year and current weather conditions. We also discuss in our daily group time about green choices and red choices.

Learning Intention 3:
Sacred symbols are special and important
Why?
Doctrinal Insights from the Catholic Tradition that support this Enduring Understanding include:
Sacred symbols remind us that God is close to us, and with us.
• In my Catholic learning environment, I can see many sacred symbols.
o Candle flames remind us that God is with us.
o The Bible reminds us of God’s love for us through special stories.
o The Cross reminds us of Jesus.
o Water is used for special blessings
• Sacred symbols are used in my school/ELC and in church celebrations, prayer and liturgy. (CCC1145)
Other faith traditions also have sacred symbols
ILP’s: All Children.
The Sign of the Cross is a prayer to God.
The Sign of the Cross is a prayer with actions and words.
The words remind us that God is called Father, Son and Holy Spirit. T
he actions represent the symbol of the Cross, and that prayer involves our head, heart and body.
God has established prayer as a means for us to communicate with him. Through prayer, we can praise God, ask for forgiveness, thank God for all he’s done, and let our requests be made known to him. Prayer allows us to open our hearts to God and let him know our innermost thoughts and desires.
