Dear Families, welcome to our week 6 learning reflection.
Learning Intention 1:
To nurture each child’s identity through connecting with and learning about their culture and community.
Learning Intention 2:
To deepen our mark making provocations and ‘Book Making’ understanding to represent children’s ideas.
This week, we focused on our learning environment. We talked about our room and how to make it inviting, more engaging, colourful, and happy. Children were eager to share their existing ideas about creating their preferred environment. They enthusiastically contributed in the discussion. All children agreed upon creating their own pieces of art to add to the room.
To begin with, we chose a natural item, pine cone. Children painted them with their choice of colours to decorate and brighten up the room. They were fully focused and enjoyed the experience and the purpose.
Being part of a community has many benefits for a child. It can create that sense of belonging, strengthen their sense of identity through positive relationships with other people in the community. In small group experiences, children are provided with the opportunities to develop the understanding to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect.
In their art experiences, children explored different types of resources. They browsed all the available items in the art and craft storage to create their art work for the room! They loved both, indoor and outdoor art set up. They accepted new challenges, made discoveries, and celebrated the accomplishments they individually achieved as well of their peers.
Construction, playing with dough support children to develop their imagination and creative skills. Through these manipulations, they develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor strength and control.
Children enjoyed the beautiful weather so much. They didn’t miss any single play equipment or learning experiences to be engaged with. This week, balance walking earned the most popularity!
Extension of Learning:
