Dear Long Day Care families, welcome to our learning reflection, week 8.
Learning Intention 1:
To encourage children’s expressive language
Harmony Day
We are blessed to have our young learners from so many different cultural backgrounds. For Harmony Week, we have learned the word ‘Hello’ in different languages. A big thank you to our families for sharing your way of greetings with us.
Children talked about food by seeing popular food items from different countries. That led them to talk about their favourite food and what they usually like to eat at home. They enjoyed the experience by making food items by using herbs and leaves.
Inquiry
Children never miss to display enthusiasm to going to MUDLA and Fish farm! We find it rewarding to be able to support their curious mind.
Activities in nature and exploring natural creatures assists them to develop better understanding of the environment they live in.
Another interest of children is science experiment. Science experiences nurture their curiosity. Using familiar materials assist them to think of big ideas and also understand the fundamental concepts. The changes and movement of food colour created by dish washing liquid in milk created a lot of conversations regarding colours, mixed colours and how a different colour is created by mixing two colours together.
Learning Intention 2:
Relating current Inquiry Project (Fish & Water Creatures) to Mark Making and Bookmaking to represent children’s ideas.
Mark making is a big part of our everyday learning experiences. Children were provided and encouraged to use a good range of tools and resources in their mark making experiences to display their ideas.
Extension of Learning:
- Inquiry project – Water creatures.
- Draw on purpose (continue).
- Picture book reading.
- Continue traffic lights project for bike riding.
- Re-arrange Construction areas and different materials for the experience.
