Dear Families, welcome to our learning reflection, week 9.
Learning Intention 1:
To encourage children’s expressive language.
Developing language and communication skills to support better interaction with others.
Children were encouraged to talk about their observation, thoughts and ideas through their intentional learning experiences as well as their free play.
Learning Outcome 5 – Children are effective communicators.
In their group time, children took turn to pick one item from a mystery box and presented to the audience. They were supported to talk about the item by guiding questions. They waited patiently for their turn, listened with interest and respect.
Learning experiences focused to support children to express their wants, needs, thoughts, and ideas.
‘Children actively use, engage with and share the enjoyment of language in a range of ways. Children use language and engage in play to imagine and create roles, scripts and ideas.’ – Learning Outcome 5
Oliver: He (William) is making cake.
Friends planning for a birthday party:
Sofia:
It’s Niya’s birthday. We will have a birthday party. I am going for shopping. I will buy some cakes.
Pirate Ajak:
It’s a pirate hat. I’m a pirate. I am going to a boat.
Learning Intention 2:

Children used creative arts such as drawing, painting and construction experiences to express ideas and make meaning.
A rainy day gave us opportunities for experiences with added enjoyment. There were options for jumping in a muddy puddle with different rain boots to experiment with, quiet reading outside or playing with play dough.
Extension of Learning:
- Continue encouraging children’s expressive language. To express their emotion, needs and interest. To support their ability to request objects, make choices, ask questions, answer and describe events.
- Explore natural items in mark making experiences. Such as leaves, twigs, stones, fruits, sand etc.
- Explore natural living things guided by children’s interest.
- Re-locate and co-construct Inquiry Space with children.
