Term 3 Week 2 31st July 2023
Ninna Marni and Welcome to this weeks blog.
You will have noticed that we have been moving the room around and adding different experiences based on the interests of the children.
We are also looking at working on the children’s fine motor and language skills in the experiences that we are providing for the children.
Why develop and fine tune their fine motor skills you may ask?
Fine Motor skills foster the development of the smaller muscles in the children’s hands and fingers. The muscle development helps them to hold, grasp, pinch and grip objects. Small movements such as picking up food and buttoning up clothes all lead children to being able to hold a pencil and eventually write.
It has been glorious weather and many of the children have taken the opportunity to spend time outdoors exploring the different experiences provided by the Educators.
Sand play, imaginary exploration, sensory play and home corner exploration.
In our class room we have explored the playdough, using sissoras to cut the dough as we learn to grasp and use the sissors. We have continued our NAIDOC week explorations as we created a dot painted canvas using paint and Qtips. The children enjoy trying different art styles.
Pom poms and tongs has kept many of us engaged in picking the pom poms up and sorting them into colours. Counting them and having races to get the most into our bowls
We have explored different construction items practising our hand eye coordination, fine motor and concentration.
