Niina Marni preschool families and children and welcome to our weekly blog. This term our Inquiry project is based on the world around us. We are learning about different places in Australia and some other countries of the world. We are discussing about :

1) Where do you have family/friends?

2) Where have you visited?

3) Where are your family from?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could please send or email us any photos relating to our inquiry to share with our children in preschool.

Literacy Intentions (our hopes for their learning)

  • Reading picture books regularly. Children will enjoy a joyful connection to picture books.
  • Continue using mark-making tools, such as crayons, textas, pencils, paint, chalk, sand (as they create texts during this process).
  • Children will build symbolic functioning, sharing something about the marks they have created.

Recognising numbers, patterns and shapes are included in everyday learning experiences with a range of materials and resources.

Learning Intention: Support children in strengthening their social-emotional skills, creating foundations for respectful and trusting relationships with others.

Why:
Throughout early childhood children develop social skills in various stages. This includes for example parallel play and cooperative play. We have noticed the need for some support in establishing these skills.

Social skills help children interact with the world around them through relationship development, verbal communication, and body language. The right set of social skills will make it easier for a child to make friends, share with their classmates, and cooperate in social environments

Social skills help children to form positive relationships, have conversations, develop body language, cooperate, share and even play together. Having well developed social skills also leads to improved mental capacity and cognitive abilities, as well as good overall mental health

By planning experiences with a focus on conversation and social skills, educators can promote positive interaction and communication. This can help children to successfully communicate their wants and needs, and nurture meaningful relationships with peers.

What makes me Happy!

Children thought about what makes them happy and shared their idea of happiness with others in preschool room.

They are also learning about personal space and body parts.

Choosing own play allows children to feel the freedom of choice and the sense of belonging. They are comfortable to ask for new or different experiences which are not offered, they are confident about their environment and relationship with their peers, educators and teachers.

Outdoor environment is purposefully set up for children to spend their times joyfully, engaged with others around them. Everyday, there are new and extended experiences for them to feel the excitement of novelty.

Children enjoyed Halloween dress up as well as making crafts based on that theme.

Construction – Most loved experiences in preschool!

Our community walks are always among the most loved experiences of all. Every time there are something special children notice, it could be new fish, how the mouse hides in the tank or the way the turtle moves around.

This week, after visiting MUDLA, children wanted to draw fish and other water creatures.

Trajectories:

  • Continuing to explore different places in Australia as well as some other countries of the world.
  • Syllables and rhyming words.
  • Diwali celebration
