Preschool Learning Reflection – Term 4, Week 9 2023

Niina Marni, preschool children and families. Welcome to our end of school year blog!

I would like to take a moment and say a big thank you to all our children for making this school year absolutely amazing. Your hard work, creativity and enthusiasm have truly made a difference. From our fun classroom activities to your amazing progress, we are incredibly proud of you all. We feel blessed to be able to support you and share your learning journey together.

Learning Intention:

To support children’s emotional wellbeing as they begin their transition process for reception in 2024, as well as children who will be joining preschool in the new year.

Why?
As children approach the transition to school they may be experiencing certain feelings such as fear, uncertainty and nervousness.

• Being aware of children’s developmental milestones, particularly emotional and social development, helps educators understand what to expect at different ages and stages in children’s lives.
• The importance of a positive transition to school experience has been consistently emphasised in research around the world.
• A large body of evidence suggests a successful transition helps improve children’s educational and social outcomes.

In our learning community we share our knowledge, experiences and joyous moments together. It creates such a positive and supportive environment for growth and learning through the collaborative spirit.

Learning Intention:
To deepen our understanding of the advent season and celebrate the cultural tradition of Christmas

Why

-throughout each year we celebrate many cultural traditions of our families to nurture each child’s identity and promote a sense of belonging

-Liturgical advent is a joyous season of preparation. The word itself actually derives from the Latin word meaning “coming.” During these four weeks, we prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus, with prayer and mindfulness. Celebrating Advent is a meaningful way to prepare our hearts for Christmas
-Christmas is a time of celebration, which is meaningful to many children within our community

Specks of Gold!

Wishing you all and your families an absolutely fantastic school holidays! May your days be filled with laughter, adventures and special moments together.
