Throughout this week, our journey of discovery has taken us deeper into various realms of learning, fostering new ideas and nurturing our growth as learners!
In Literacy, children have made remarkable strides in grasping phonemic awareness and the phonetic principles of letters. Through focused engagement with letters such as s, a, t, p, and i, they have embarked on a journey of letter-word association, eagerly beginning to blend CVC words with familiar sounds. Their enthusiasm for literacy has ignited a genuine love for words and literature!
In Numeracy, our focus has remained on counting skills (principles of counting) and venturing into the realm of numeral writing. Children have been actively exploring the concept of 1:1 correspondence and engaging in multi-sensory activities to deepen their understanding of numbers.
In the realm of Science, our exploration of living things has led to the creation of plant heads! As these botanical creations flourish, children will meticulously document their observations while discerning the essential needs of living organisms.
In the realm of Technology, our endeavours have centred on cultivating safe iPad usage practices and enhancing skills in navigating this digital tool. This week, children delved into the world of videography features with creativity and enthusiasm, expanding their technological prowess.
Health took a delightful turn on Wednesday with Valentine’s Day celebrations, where we crafted our very own love bugs! We shared sentiments about the special people in our lives while also learning how to say ‘I love you’ in Auslan.
In Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS), our focus remained on exploring personal identity as we delved into our individual likes and dislikes. Recognising these unique attributes underscores the diversity among us, celebrating the richness of varied preferences.
In Religion, this week held special significance in the liturgical calendar with the observance of Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. Children gained insights into the importance of these days within the community and participated in Pancake Tuesday festivities followed by an Ash Wednesday Mass, where they received blessings with ashes.
Buddies – This week we were so lucky to meet our year 5 buddies! We hosted a get to know you session where the children could connect with and meet their buddies.
A gentle reminder, please ensure the return of library bags by Monday/Tuesday for book borrowing during our library session on Tuesdays!
Can’t wait to see you all for another amazing week!
