Week 2 in REB

Hello REB Families, welcome to our week 2 blog.

A speck of gold this week has been our discussions about our Mums and how special they are to us. I would like to wish you all a wonderful Mother’s Day on Sunday and hope that you are able to share some special time with your children.

In English this week we:

-drew upon our emerging reading skills and pieced together the Humpty Dumpty poem

-engaged with another interactive writing lesson. There has been so much progress with each child’s writing already, which is so impressive to see!

-investigated the letter W and found/wrote words that have this letter

-continued our MO Williams author study, and continued using crafting techniques from his books when editing our own.

In Maths we:

-focused on AABB and ABB patterns. We make a human pattern (a line) and used natural resources on the oval to show our understandings.

In HASS we:

-discussed what a community is and how we each have many communities that we belong to. We worked together to categorise different people and occupations. Such as emergency services, or food production.

In Arts and Drama  we are very busy getting organised for our Assembly in week 4! This has involved:

-making props

-practicing our dance

-practicing our song

REMINDERS/COMMUNICATION:

-Our Assembly is on the 24th May at 9:00am

-Try at Home packs (with books) are to be returned each day. This is so we can add more things to the booklet and can send home any notes or art work.

-Holy Family are running a free Kickstart (AFL) program for studentsfrom 3:30 – 4:30 on Tuesdays. See flyer below for more details
