Week 8, Term 2, 2024 (RCC)

Hello RCC families and children, welcome to week 8 blog!

In English,

Students reviewed all phonemes & graphemes, we used books,  flash cards, writing on board. They enjoyed reading the  poem – I Have a Little Frog! We revised heart words and created sentences together with the heart words. (interactive writing on board). Children practiced writing the letters and heart words on their white boards, creating words with a range of materials and resources, continued to write their books.

In Maths, we started our New unit – measurement . We compared Length, height, worked on sequencing events and duration with real life experiences and objects.

In Health, students developed the  understanding of what is fair/unfair. They also discriminated fair/unfair situations.

In Religion, students learned about varying components of religions. they talked about the importance of religion and how it helps us to make decisions and live a life that follows our religion, as God would want. They also learned about a range of different religions and must allow people to talk about their God freely.

In Arts, the students learned the five parts of a retell.

  1. Who – characters/ key figures.
  2. What – conflict/ key event.
  3. Where – setting.
  4. When – setting.
  5. Why – resolution/motives

They chose to retell a part/scene of the story – The Three Little Pigs.

In Technologies, the students built a house from the story – The Three Little Pigs. They used a range of materials depending on the type of house they wanted to build.

In Science, the students investigated to understand that the material an object is made from, affects it movement.
