Week 1 in REB

Hello REB Families, welcome to our week 1 Blog.

We have had such a wonderful start to term 3 and have wasted no time in diving back into our learning and connecting!

In maths we are revisiting number with a focus on 1-20. Throughout the week we have:

-revisited number formation

-counted and compared collections

-created number lines to 20

In English we:

-introduced the skill of ‘onset and rime’ focussing on words that end with ‘ell’ and ‘ap’

-explored a variety of narrative and information texts and compared the differences

-revisited letters and determined if they make more than one sound

-Engaged with Interactive writing, focusing on our finger spaces and small writing.

In Science we introduced our new learning intention- I can use words to describe how an object looks, feels and behaves. We picked items out of a mystery bag and sorted them based on their properties.

In Visual Arts and Technology, we began our unit on the Olympic Games:

Explored the history, locations, events, countries participating, medals, arenas.

-draw a picture of arena suitable for our chosen sport

In HASS we introduced our new Geography unit on Place. We:

-explored the concept of ‘features’ and how they make a place functional and special.

-used our senses to collect data at our playground

 

REMINDERS/NOTICES:

-There is a casual dress day in celebration of the Olympic Games. Come in colours of the country you support.

-Take home packs to be returned each day preferably.

-REB (and our buddies) will be hosting another Assembly in week 4 of this term

-Music has been changed from Fridays to Mondays
